When I first walked in, the restaurant didn’t look like much and didn’t resemble the photos I saw online. There was only one person working. He wasn’t rude, but the customer service wasn’t welcoming either. When I mentioned it was my first time, he simply pointed to the menu without offering any recommendations.

The menu was limited, so I ordered rice, butter chicken, cheese spinach, bread, chickpeas, and a premade mango smoothie. There was much more rice than chicken — only about 5–6 small pieces — so the portion felt unbalanced. The butter chicken was delicious, but the chickpeas were too firm and lacked flavor. I didn’t taste much cheese in the spinach. The bread was good, aside from a few slightly burnt spots.

The highlight was the mango smoothie — smooth, sweet, creamy, and more like a mango dessert. It was so good I wish I had ordered two.

Overall, decent food with some strong points, but improvements are needed in portion balance and customer service.

If you’re expecting a sit down restaurant experience with fluent English speaking customer service, this is not the place for you – better off getting a premade sandwich from coffeeshop across the street. If you’re looking for yummy, homey, cheap, authentic bang for buck, look no further. You can choose between 2 entrees and 3 sides, with complimentary rice and naan for $15! After 300 orders, they run out and close for the day so imagine how your order of deliciousness is getting this no frills shop owner one order closer to being able to go home to his family 🙂 great concept great food, great portions, would recommend

Not fresh food- I had a good experience for lunch and spoiled food for a dinner.
First time ordered (butter chicken -$14 and chicken tikka masala-$14) for lunch everything was fresh and tastes good. Based on the first experience tried again before write the review, this time was for a dinner and ordered the same (butter chicken -$14 and chicken tikka masala-$14) I found that they are serving the same food from morning leftovers in the evening. I raised my concern and they prepared another one from the downstairs. I thought everything was freshly made and didn’t expect to receive from morning leftovers which was continuously on hot pot. I don’t recommend for dinner time!

I had the food delivered multiple times. The food here is awesome I love butter chicken and Indian in general. One thing you do have to know is I would say that the food here is like Indian food but fast food version. The naan here is definitely frozen naan you can get at the international stores. The food is very good to me and it fills me up with the generous portions.

Decided to give this a try. The butter chicken was good but the chickpeas were undercooked and the Naan was greasy. It wasn’t bad, but definitely just ok.

Straight up food wasn’t good atmosphere not good as very small restaurant and very pricey food $15 for their food $3 for small bottle of drinks aswell as $1.50 each on $15 meal might aswell go elsewhere unless they lower the price or provide authentic Indian food. Also it isn’t really fresh

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic and is a longtime staple of the DC area.

The sign displayed as soon as you walk in should have some sort of disclaimer though. If you’re not familiar with this place or haven’t been in a long time, seeing “sold out for the day” is not reassuring

We order a standard tray. It was $16.50 for a choice of tiki masala or butter chicken or half and half. It came with two sides, I choose chickpeas and spinach. The chickpeas were hard. The butter chicken and masala sauce was terrible and just tasted like tomato sauce. The rice tasted old. The naan was nothing special, even Safeway was better. The portion was small for $16. I weight 200 lbs and am 510, i wasn’t even close to being full. I came here at 6 pm so I guess I get what I pay for because the food felt old. The upstairs was very very warm and the other side had mosquitoes around the whole area you couldn’t even site out there. It might be good to go, but I would recommend any other Indian place before this.

It’s the wife’s favorite new place. The name sake is mouthwatering & melts in your mouth. I’m more of a KAREN I don’t think anything deserves 5 stars. She bought me a Mango Lassi and it’s my kind of sweet but not too sweet. I love too sweet and it doesn’t come in a 32oz size if it did my comment would be it doesn’t come in a 64oz. They’re ecologically compliant so bring your own silicone or stainless steel straw. They’re masked up.

Delish! A friend and I had a late dinner her and it definitely hit the spot. She had the butter chicken, and I had the tiki marsala… both spot on, just the right amount of spice. We had chickpeas and potatoes as our side. Definitely a spot to hit if you are in the neighborhood of Union Station.
