Once again we turned to the Rock County Cocktails 2026 edition and it led us to Boxcars Pub and Grub. The interior decor is centered around music with musical instruments, photos of musicians and sayings all over the walls. It is really cool! The food was good! I had a hamburger with fries and Brandy Old Fashioned Sweet. My wife had the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich with fries and a Spotted Cow. Even though there was already group, the staff was very attentive and friendly.

I’ve ordered food here several times. Usually a wrap. The first couple times it was very good. But after that each time I’ve ordered the wrap the quality has gotten worse. This time is the last straw. The wrap had wilted slimy lettuce in it. I had to take most of it off. Not to mention the wrap was smaller than usual. I’ve given this place several chances but each time just has been less than great. I used to recommend this place to others. Maybe it’s good for other things but the food has declined in my experience.

Best fish fry in the entire area, Wednesdays and Fridays! We drive about 20 miles to go here and have for years!! All the other food like burgers, pizza, and wraps are top notch too!! Great atmosphere, amazing daily sides and specials too! Great for the whole family or to enjoy the bar with some friends!! There are so many places to choose from but we keep coming back to Boxcar’s above all the rest!!

The Italian beef was amazing, as we’re the onion rings, the hamburger was a little dry. I wish the waiter had mentioned the Wednesday fish fry (we missed the sign until after ordering) as the table adjacent to us had it and it looked fantastic.

This place is great. Friendly atmosphere, friendly waitstaff, friendly owners. This place is happening. Live bands in The Room or in The LOT. Bar BINGO every other Tuesday. Daily specials. Happy Hour 4-6. If you haven’t been here, come check it out. Follow their FB for specials and updates as well as what bands are playing or coming up.
