I went early so it wasn’t busy. The food was really good. I would say you can’t leave hungry as the portions were large. The coffee was also very good.

Cozy and rustic, plenty of parking and tables available on a Saturday around lunch hour. We all had breakfast food and were happy with our selections. I also got a hot mocha with a flavored syrup. It had rich chocolate flavor, but was very sweet, next time I would probably opt for a larger size with less flavored syrup and add another shot of espresso. Overall, nice experience with fast service, cozy atmosphere, will be back.

Our server, name on the receipt is ‘Default’ , was very nice and reasonably attentive, while not hovering. She greeted us and also spoke to locals who came in, seemingly knowing them fairly well. Lovely small town atmosphere.
I had a Spinach and Bacon Omelette with a side (upgraded) to onion rings and sourdough toast. Husband created his own by saying Denver? omellete and the waitress/server knew exactly what that meant. He had the Spillway hashbrown which include onion and peppers and wheat toast.
I also had a spicy chai. All were very delicious and I had sufficient leftover for lunch today or breakfast tomorrow.
We very much enjoyed the Spillway Coffee House here in Riverdale, NC.
We found it while camping in the RV at nearby Lake Sakakawea Downstream Campground by the COA (Core of Engineers).

4 weeks of everyday visits while on contract in the area. Lovely staff, Claire, Jonna and Phyllis. Half portions biscuits and gravy, pancakes etc. Ate my way through all the breakfasts, enormous caramel buns, good selection of coffee and fish and chips with cod for lunch!!!

The atmosphere was charming, but the service was terrible. Our server spent more time on her phone than checking on tables. We had to flag her down or get up just to ask for basic things like refills. She wasn’t even busy. The food was bland and lacked flavor—definitely not worth the money. Won’t be coming back.

One time I had an omelette here that was huge and awesome. Seriously it was probably 12 eggs. So they get 2 stars rather than 1 for that one.
The spillway coffee house is, to everyone’s disdain, the only place open during lunch time in Riverdale. Everything here is either fine or bad. The coffee is fine. The grilled chicken sandwich is terrifically horrible, I think they cooked it straight from frozen and it tasted like eating chicken strings. Food can take up to an hour and a half to get.

Foods good but breakfast cost is random for some basics.
My dad orders bacon and eggs plus a side of pancake. One day there was a $0.75 cent charge the next day a $3.75 charge for “Not ordering off the menu”. Its freaking bacon and eggs!
The $3.75 was ridiculous considering the base price already for each item.
Food is always slow but the waitress who was new was very nice.
