Excellent meal and service. Phillip, our server, was very polite and friendly, as was all the waitstaff. The wine pairing was perfect, and the meal was outstanding. Chef Tommy came out to greet us and spent time talking about the food and his passion for food. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaraunt, and rate it very highly.

We love this place! Have not had a bad experience yet! The service and food are top notch. We started with the oysters. I’ve never had oysters with add ons like this (cucumber and grapefruit). I was skeptical but the flavors all mesh together well. The venison, halibut and filet were all phenomenally paired and the flavor combinations are culinary masterpieces.

Everything we had was great, and the service was excellent. The menu is the perfect size and offers something for everyone

We shared a seasonal spring greens salad and it was perfectly dressed, citrus-forward, and light – we thought about placing another order it was that good.

My medium-rare beef tenderloin was seared well, and pink/red inside and cut like butter. The bordelaise-stle house sauce was rich and brought out the flavor of the steak. Sides were also excellent, fresh zucchini, mushroom, and peppers and a light mashed potato.

My strawberry tiramisu was full of strawberries and soft/sweet mascarpone, and crunchy lady’s finders sponge cookies. Another highpoint to an outstanding meal.

Very friendly and attentive service, well-stocked bar, hushed restaurant (all quietly enjoying the company and the food)

Recommended.

This place is a vibe! Totally great for date night! Loved the salmon dish and the bread was delightful! High chairs are available for kids. Mocktails were top notch!

Loved the interior of the restaurant. Felt like it had a great atmosphere with some lively tables. I had been before and had a more enjoyable experience. Ordered multiple pastas for the table to try. All seemed very dry and lacking flavor. The mains we got also didn’t have great flavor. Cocktails were only alright. Best part of the experience was the service. For the price, I think there are much better options in the area. I’ll probably skip this restaurant in the future.

Spring and Porter is the best dining experience in Michigan! We were there for happy hour today, and enjoyed our experience despite a very aggressive guest who was berating the bartender. The staff was very professional in the face of a very hostile interaction. When she left the whole bar was happy for them to be gone.

While some people might complain, we had the best time and look forward to going back again soon!

I’ll start by saying that the food is good.

BUT… the experience unfortunately left an extremely bad taste behind for our group.

As a person with a disability that is protected under the ADA, reasonable accomodation was not given to our party.

The server was also combative when asked for the ADA concession and even went to the kitchen and loudly discussed the disability with coworkers (so loud the entire restaurant could hear the disability being discussed).

Really unfortunate experience. Our entire party agreed that we would not dine here again.

Funny because a simple concession could have made longtime patrons of our group. Instead, over a rather small issue that was disproportionately blown up and blatantly thrown back at us with belittling comments.

I believe our server had a choice to be accommodating and instead chose to make the situation extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. As well established community members, we will not be suggesting this establishment to anyone in the future.

We’re year round locals and have been here numerous times. So.. food is good and I won’t knock it. But, I just figured out why you can’t get in during Happy hour. I was told a few times they don’t and won’t reserve spots at the bar for happy hour. WELL… that isn’t true!! After trying numerous times over the last month to get in there for happy hour we did get in today right at 4pm but there were already people in there (even though they don’t open until 4pm) and 4 out of the 10 spots were reserved. 4 other people were right in front of us so that only left 2 spots and it wasn’t even 4:01pm. I asked the bartendar Jordan why people were in there before they opend and bar seats were reserved and he told me that the people called him to reserve spots. Again, I was told repeatedly that they don’t do this but apparently for special people they do… Not sure what makes you special in their eyes but I can take a guess… We’ve always tipped above norm but guess some of us locals are special enough. Won’t go back ever!

Amazing! Great food and great service! The fillet was the best I’ve ever had! My wife had the chicken and it was great!
The restaurant is small and cozy. Prices are heavy but to be expected for the quality of the food.
If you want big city fine dining in a small town, this is the place.

The food was excellent. The wedge salad had an added level of taste with the beets. The food came out warm and well flavored. There was a little wait between courses.
