Service- 3 stars- counter service however they do bring the food to your table. Food came out fairly fast.
Food- 4 stars- I got the Chicken Quesadilla and we also got the Chicken Street Tacos. Both were made with fresh ingredients and chicken was cooked perfectly. Would highly recommend stopping here on your next visit to historic Charles Town West Virginia!!
The classic tacos are overpriced based on the fact they charge $1 extra for Carne Asada versus the $0.25 cents for the carne asada street taco despite the fact you get the same amount of meat in each. Me and my friends got tacos, both classic and street, and I realized that one classic taco was smaller than the other and it happened to be the one I paid extra for. When I asked the manager of that specific shift about it, she was quite dismissive and argumentative, claiming that there were “the same size” when they weren’t and her responses gave the impression that she thought I was trying to complain about nothing. All I wanted to know was if I was blessed with a large Muchaca or if there was a mistake and my carne asada should have been larger. I walked away from the interaction quite disenchanted with the establishment as I have always been a fan of Ortegas and have taken my friends there often.
I have never had an issue before today, but this issue showed me that, at least this once, customer service is only good if I don’t raise concerns. I hope, if I ever come back, that this turns out to be a one-off event. I understand not all managers are the same.
The food is really good, but if one is not getting a street taco, it can be a little pricey. I would say, not worth it, especially from this experience.
The tortillas for the classic taco are advertised as 6″ (vs the 4″ street taco) but the same manager I spoke to said “all our tortillas are the same size”, (that being 4″) which *really* makes the Classic Taco’s not worth it, and not as advertised.
