I did check out the menu online the night before. I like to see what they have and what their menu entails. The red curry coconut noodles really caught by eye! Noodles, broth, curry!?! 3 of my favorite things in a bowl! So,I went to the food truck feeling 100% in my food choice. Well, the red curry noodles were not an option so I had to look over the menu again. Total bummer since I had my heart and stomach set on it.
After reading the menu board over and over again and it was still early enough that ordering breakfast wasn’t weird, I decided on the Croque madame. Grilled ham and cheese with an egg, it sounded good.
My sandwich did not look like it came out of a food truck. It also doesn’t look like it should be in a to go container. My sandwich was a work of art! The egg was cooked perfectly. The fondue sauce was snow white. The pieces of cilantro added a beautiful color to it and was nicely sprinkled all over. It was just too pretty to eat!
This sandwich is messy so the fork and knife that was provided for me was used! The bread was very soft and fresh! It toasted and buttery. There was so much ham! It made the sandwich very hearty. The egg yolk was runny and jammy. The cheese fondue was rich and savory. The heirloom tomatoes added a nice freshness to the sandwich. All together it was a very thick sammy. All the flavors were fantastic but it did get overwhelming to eat after few bites. I enjoyed the fondue but it was a lot for me. The fondue is very rich and you add all the other elements and it gets to be too much. If I order this again, I’ll probably order it without the fondue. There’s already cheese in the sandwich so it was overwhelming with the cheese sauce added to it.
My friend ordered the chipotle breakfast sandwich and it looked amazing. It was simple and it looked like something I would have really enjoyed vs what I had ordered. I did ask the gentleman in the food truck if they will have the curry noodles anytime soon. With the cold weather coming, they are anticipating the noodles too be back. I look forward to that!
I haven’t frequented many food trucks but this one has really set the bar high! The quality of the ingredients used were fantastic and fresh. The service was great. The food truck itself was pretty neat. The location is fun and chill. I know we will be back and I look forward to having that bowl of noodles. If not noodles then I’m sure I will be able to find something that will be delicious.
The food was prepared quickly and I enjoyed eating my meal outside in their large courtyard type area! It had large umbrellas for shade & misters! I can’t wait to try more on the menu! Great job!
Husband and wife J and C are the most together of chefs, or most chefy of couples. Drawing from global experience and the local produce; bolstered by daring, and sharp instincts, J and C offer no-fail delicious breakfasts and lunches. They had (and have) a food truck, and now they’re shining out of this Spartan trailer. Hec, if they were working out of a ’95 Pontiac Bonneville they’d still find a way to deliver the goods.
We do hope they thrive and not move on to a global hotspot. For it can be at times dispiriting to have so-little foot traffic in the block, nor much referral from the decidedly UN-bustling Sparrow Hotel. Well, good J and C, do know this: you are appreciated and we hold you dear. We GET it.. and we’d like to get more.
This writer has often done so. Sometimes being daring himself, getting a special (never disappointed) or sticking to mainstay Pastrami sandwich. So filling! So tasty! The chips that give the biz it’s name make for a terrific side, along with the dippin’ sauce.
One negative: early closing .. 2pm? Help Me, Rhonda…
Suggestion 1 – loyalty program. these primo meals can set a body back, esp when adding well-deserved tip.. i’d imbibe more often if we got a discount. something like 9 meals gets the tenth for a buck…
Suggestion 2 – fix the website link. when i click from google maps, brings up a strange empty page? i can help!
Crisp is not gonna get reviews such as “well my daddy took us when we was little, and now we go and take the young ‘uns ‘cause ain’t that #boiseNice ? “ Oh no, friend. Crisp is new. No legacy. Not complacent. Never taking customers for granted. J and C have a place in the world of MERITOCRACY. And in that world they shall thrive. Let ‘em win you ova !

Let’s start with the owners, who couldn’t be nicer! It’s hard to believe just two people can pump out such consistently amazing food.
Others have said it, but the birria quesadilla is outstanding. It rivals the one at Amano in Caldwell. My wife raves about the Coconut Curry Noodles and Schnitzel Sandwich.
When you’re ordering at the window, make sure to check out the specials board that’s down at knee height. There’s always something to tempt you away from what you intended to order!
Even as the temperatures drop, you can cozy up to the outdoor fireplace or take your meal indoors. Form & Function in the lobby conveniently sells wine!
