Takosushi comes on strong with inventive but down-to-earth flavors that consistently wow locals and visitors alike. Rouse your senses with the eclectic vibe and ingredient-driven cuisine rooted in southwestern and Asian traditions. The beauty of this food is in its utter simplicity, yet it seductively teases the tongue and leaves you wanting to try so much more.

If you’re looking for a spot in Lexington that pairs fresh sushi with creative flair and a side of casual fun, TakoSushi hits the mark—and then some.
Walking into TakoSushi feels like stepping into a neighborhood gem with just the right blend of laid-back and upscale. The bar area glows with warm light, the décor has subtle Asian & Southwestern influences, and there’s enough buzz to make you feel like something good is about to happen. The buzz was real: I overheard folks saying “the fish was incredibly fresh” and “we’ll definitely come back.”
Here’s where TakoSushi really shines. I started with the tempura asparagus—crisp golden exterior, tender inside—and it set the tone. Then came the rolls: vibrant, perfectly assembled, and bursting with flavor. According to multiple diners, “sushi rolls … were very much fresh and on point.”
One standout: the “Crazy Roll” (yes, I ordered it). It combined spicy tuna, avocado, a touch of mango, and a drizzle of something sweet-savory that made me grin. If sushi was a touchdown, this roll was a Hail Mary caught in the end zone.
And yes, the place accommodates a variety of tastes: even a local reviewer said, “Kids enjoyed their chicken and fries,” so you’re covered whether you’re going full sushi mode or just grabbing something simple.
The service here deserves a high-five (and maybe a sash for “Most Welcoming Team”). Our server knew the menu, checked in just enough to make us feel taken care of—but not like we were under the glare of a food critic. One Yelp reviewer said: “The staff is always friendly, service is fast, food always tastes good and fresh.” With that kind of service, even the most ambitious roll becomes more enjoyable.
If I were to sum up TakoSushi in one sentence: it’s sushi with swagger, served with a smile. Whether you’re out for a casual dinner, date night, or just want something different, this spot delivers. I’ll definitely be heading back—and grabbing that tempura asparagus again too.
Go ahead and reserve a table (or arrive early) to snag a good seat. Order something adventurous and something familiar. And don’t forget to tip the staff—they’ll genuinely make you feel like you belong.
TakoSushi isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to enjoy. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed my visit to Takosushi! My girlfriends ordered sushi & I was able to order some tacos & they were excellent. I got the grilled steak taco & the firecracker shrimp taco. Both were so fresh! We also had the tempura asparagus & it was delicious! The outdoor atmosphere is beautiful and I cant wait to visit when Fall is happening.

I’ll keep this short and sweet.
Been here a couple times and haven’t had a bad experience. Staff is always friendly, service is fast, food always tastes good and fresh and the atmosphere is perfect. Seating inside and outside with plenty of room for groups! I want to give a shout out to my recent server Praewa! She was amazing on my last visit.
Also the bartender was a good dude. Can’t remember his name though!

Came by TakoSushi after the Ice Market on a Saturday for lunch and it wasn’t crowded at all. We were seated immediately and served immediately! We ordered the Crazy Roll and three tacos to share. Everything we had was great, service was great and it was such a pretty day, they had the partition door open outside and it was a great atmosphere. There was a little bit of a wait for the food but otherwise everything was good! I definitely can see us coming back again.

I don’t usually write reviews on here, but this is genuinely the worst sushi I have ever had in my life holy shit. I have never had salmon THIS freezer burnt and cheap. The salmon sushi wasn’t orange, I cannot stress enough, it doesn’t just seem “not fresh” but borderline rotten.
The taste was stale, it made me and my mom nauseous. I genuinely believe this has to be some kind of health hazard because never in my life has salmon tasted like this.
Save yourself the money and time. Unless you’re a fish inspector, I’d avoid this at all costs — I added a photo of the sushi here because it doesn’t have those white line things and looks almost matte? Like I cannot describe it because it’s unlike any sushi I have ever had (in the worst way possible) lmao

We sat on the patio at the beginning of happy hour and had good service right away. You can have free chips and salsa during happy hour as well.
Highly recommend their special right now – hot honey peach margarita! The pineapple mango margarita is also very good. For sushi I recommend the Unforgettable roll and the Crazy Roll (Kevin Roll) . They pair super well together !!!

Every time my husband and I go to Takosushi we enjoy the experience, but today we had lunch and sat on the patio with our dog and the service was exceptional. Andrew G was our server and he not only brought water for our pup, but was so attentive the entire time. I’m pretty sure we sat outside of his section, but he was still so gracious and kind. We love going here for a quick casual date

My experience was terrible. I don’t eat here a lot, but when I do, it’s usually always good, but this experience was the worst I’ve experienced with Tako. First the phone wasn’t working to take call-ins (I literally tried calling for 10 minutes straight) I couldn’t place an online order because I was driving my vehicle and it is more convenient to talk on the phone than try to place the order online while driving. I couldn’t do that. So I had to go to the restaurant out of my way. Everyone was really nice and helpful and said they just found out about the calls not going through from other customers. Okay, that’s fine, I get it. I place my order, pay, and then have to leave so I can finish up what I needed to so I could come back and get the food. I come back, my food is not the way I asked it with everything ots (the person I’m eating with wouldn’t be able to eat for hours, so ots is easiest to heat up so things don’t sit and get soggy). I told the to-go and she said they would remake it. I had to bring my child inside with having to sit at the bar while it was remade, and I’ve already had a really bad day, so this makes it seem worse. Everyone was so nice and got my son some crayons. They bring it to me (the food). It is wrong again, at this point I was so mad and about to lose it, like I just wanted to leave. I told her it was still wrong, I wanted everything ots and it wasn’t and that I’m sorry if I was being rude, but that was literally all I was asking for. But I literally have a fussy child with me at this point and I had to leave and couldn’t wait for another remake. And then I had to ask for my sushi rolls that were not with the order when they handed it to me and they had to go get those. Like I told the lady straight up I was leaving and I didn’t want to be there any longer, she apologized and was nice, and I felt bad for like literally almost crying infront of her with my child, but the experience was terrible and i wish i wouldnt have even wanted to eat there and probably never will at this location again. On top of that, I get home to eat the asparagus and it literally looks so bad, like the batter is in huge clumps on some and then barely on others and the aparagus seemed old (when it dries up when old, the skin of the asparagus keeps that nasty texture and wasnt crunchy at all). I would give 5 stars for how nice and helpful the staff was, but I give the situation a 2 stars because it was just terrible and i hate that this experience probably ruined me coming to this location ever again.

Was excited to try this place out. Got the tuna tartare and it just tasted like wet taco seasoning. I asked for the signature burrito without cheese and got it came covered with cheese. Glad the box even has “No cheese” written on it. Won’t be back and very disappointed with service, taste, and attention. Place looked cool for a drink during the summer time and if I go there again would be for only that.
