Social Profile:

With a passion for creating happy people and our love of coffee, we opened our first drive-thru espresso stand in Ashland Oregon in 1998. The demand for convenient, quality coffee & espresso grew and soon after opening our original location in Ashland, we expanded to surrounding cities in Southern Oregon. The Human Bean quickly established a reputation for having friendly and experienced baristas and offering the highest quality ingredients.

Drive-thru chain serving espresso, coffee, tea, smoothies & kid-friendly beverages.

The service and employees of this place are amazing. Especially the girls who work the mornings
But this morning I drove up to them taking orders outside instead of from the screen where I can see what flavors are available putting me on the spot to not try anything new but order my usual. Also felt like I was pulling up to a familiar coffee shop that I don’t go to specifically because I like to be able to look at the menu, vs having someone come to my window. Seemed to take longer with people having to ask the employee what’s available than having them order from the screen. Still love this place just hope they don’t make this a regular thing.

my partner and i have been regulars here for almost a year but we’ll be going elsewhere from now on. the past few times i’ve ordered a shaken espresso it’s been absolutely rancid.
just pulled through for 2 matcha smoothies today and they taste like pure milk and sugar, no green tea flavor at all. feels like we wasted $12.

On Sunday 11/16/25, the young woman taking payments and giving drinks was extremely rude. I was last in line behind three cars with two more behind me when she decided that was a good time to have a lengthy chat with her friend whom she had already served. I thought she was waiting for her friend’s drink to be made, but it became obvious her friend had already gotten her drink. I waited a bit more, but this was getting old. I probably wasn’t the only one who did not have time for this. I tapped my horn to make her aware that this was getting rude. She ignored that and kept talking. Finally, they were done. When I got to the window I told her it was rude to ignore customers and catch up with her friend on our time. She retorted that my single honk was rude – “we are busy!” Bullshit. Very loyal customer since opening day, but going to take an extended break until the cycle out this employee.

I really wanted to like this place. My favorite part has been the chocolate covered coffee bean they put on top of the drinks. I’ve not had a beverage here that makes me say wow and the “baked goods” are pre-packaged garbage full of absolute trash including, according to the packaging, bioengineered ingredients.
The staff is a mixed bag. Some have been super friendly and kind. Most recent experience was met with weird staring.

Taking stuff back for a remake sucks for me too. I purchased 3 holiday themed drinks. Pumpkin spice snowies. In the advertising picture it has whipped cream and cinnamon on them. This is not something I normally buy. Just iced coffee with I guess pumpkin spiced creamer. I was told they don’t look like the picture and was told by who I got the drink for that they messed it up and how do you screw up a holiday themed drink. Idk how but I was told how when I returned for the remake. Apparently I need to specify that I want the whipped cream and cinnamon up front. Ok. I didn’t know that. Then I got told this time they will remake the drink that got drunk but not again. When I hand the drinks out to my passengers, I don’t say don’t drink it. Sorry about that, not really. Almost nobody is trying to scam you for a free coffee. That includes me. I said sorry. They never did. Just told me how I was wrong. The remake looks vindictively made or maybe I’m just projecting. Anyways their customer service and pride in what they are doing wasn’t present. I won’t be back.

Coffee is definitely cheaper than Starbucks. Drinks aren’t great but okay. Owner is kind of rude, she works in the mornings from what I’ve seen. The rest of the staff is awesome, super friendly! But unfortunately I will not be supporting a business with an owner like that.

What is a human bean anyway? I know what part I call the bean… Nevertheless, It’s a Good spot. I mean good place to pull in for a quick pick me up. Coffee. Nevermind…
Remember, anything is better than Starbucks. Even McCafe.

The Human Bean:
**Prescott Valley’s Coffee Gem!**

As a coffee lover, I’m pretty particular about my brew. After being away from Prescott Valley for a while, I returned to find my old go-to coffee spot just wasn’t cutting it anymore. Then, I discovered the amazing team at The Human Bean in Prescott Valley, and let me tell you, it was a game-changer!

The ladies there are absolutely fantastic. They’re incredibly fast and friendly, always greeting you with a genuine smile and a warm welcome. It’s such a refreshing change from the usual rushed, impersonal coffee house experience.

If you’re tired of the hustle and bustle and ready for a genuinely better coffee experience, do yourself a favor and head over to The Human Bean. You won’t be disappointed!
