It’s been ages since I last visited this restaurant! A friend raved about their Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs (Guobaorou), so I came back with some friends. The portion of Guobaorou is generous, and it’s truly delicious—crispy and flavorful. We also ordered Jellyfish with Vinegar Dressing. The jellyfish here is quite thick and chunky, not the smooth, silky kind I’m used to, so I wouldn’t recommend it.
Then there’s the Braised Local Chicken in Iron Pot. The picture looked super tempting, so I specifically asked if it came with the steamed rolls (huajuan) shown in the photo. The waiter told me they only have steamed buns (mantou) instead. When it arrived, turns out they’re machine-made frozen buns bought from the supermarket. This dish is a letdown, so I don’t suggest it either.
On the bright side, the Sizzling Pork Kidneys were pretty good! We also wanted to order Peking Duck, but it requires advance reservation—make sure to call ahead if you want to try it.

Great lunch at Yummy House! Very appropriately named! We ordered the sweet and sour pork, steamed shrimp with garlic, and stir fried cabbage with glass noodles. Friendly service and the food comes out quickly. Spacious and comfortable seating. Recommend!

New review: I ordered from Hungry Panda App. Very authentic and delicious food! If you love Chinese food and want to try something authentic and different, you should come here. Here’s food is more like Northern China food, not the spicy type of Szechuan food, not the Cantonese food, but the Northeast Chinese food, which I love very much. I recommend their Peking duck, sweet sour pork and farmer bowl. Everything I tried from here so far is all good. I definitely recommend this place.
Previous revue: I did a Peking duck takeout from Yummy House. I got the recommendation from my friend about this place’s Peking duck. It was really really awesome. I think it’s the best Peking duck I eat so far in San Diego. The skin is thin sliced, you can feel it is crunchy, not too oily and melting in your mouth. They come with the wraps, scallion & cucumber slices, and the duck sauce. And it also with comes with a duck soup for free. The price is nice and I realized it’s much cheaper to do the restaurant takeout directly than Hungry Panda delivery. The dish of Peking duck itself seems like $10 less. I guess I’ll come here more for the takeout than doing the delivery. Sorry I don’t have photos since we were too hungry when we ate. I totally forgot the photos. By the way, the only thing is you have to wait for a while when you go to pick up your food. Maybe it was a Saturday night. I waited 15 minutes for the food to be ready.

Worth checking out if you come for great food with a large portion, not the service. They are nice but understaffed. Chun bing is so good and fun to have. Guo bao rou are not always consistent but sometimes just amazing (including this time so I wrote this review)! Many dishes will give you a good taste of Northeastern China Style.

I ordered the iron pot braised pork ribs, but what I was served was pork belly instead. No one informed me that the ribs were sold out until I specifically asked. Replacing the main ingredient without any notice is unacceptable.
On top of that, the pork belly was very poorly prepared and tasted bad. Overall, this was a disappointing experience due to both the lack of communication and the food quality. I would not recommend this place.

It was good until now. My friend and I had severe food poisoning after eating here. This place should be inspected.

Every dish we got was very flavorful and distinct! Glad to have listened to recommendations for this place despite a lower star rating. The Peking duck was soo good! Call ahead 1 hr to order. We also got the chicken and mushroom stew and the baked pumpkin with egg yolk. Very tasty! Of course, authentic Chinese restaurants tend to lack in the service department and this place follows that trend, but the food definitely makes up for it. Great place for dinner on a Saturday night. We walked in at 6 pm and there were a few tables open and we were able to snag a parking spot right out front which is miraculous for Convoy on a weekend!

The food and service were decent, nothing to complain about. However, parking was a bit of a challenge. Just something to keep in mind if you’re planning a visit.

This place is absolutely amazing, the Chinese cuisine here is definitely authentic, it tastes just like China. Their chicken stew with mushroom is mesmerizing, their chef really mastered this dish, make sure you try it out. Cumin lamb was also good, dry pot shrimp was also delicious, I also recommend it.

Call ahead for the Peking Duck! It’s definitely worth the call! The skin is perfectly golden and crisp. The pancakes come out steaming and are ready for you to create a delicious bite. The soup is rich and decadent. The shrimp with garlic was fantastic! This new spot is worth the time and money.
