The two dishes I ordered from Handlebar were tremendous. I’ve been unable to order anything else yet because it’s so hard to pass up my 2 favorite meals. As mentioned the food is excellent and the owner Lori is even more amazing, very cheerful and full of good vibes. Lori and the staff will leave you with a smile on your face!

Handlebar Saloon is my only favorite watering hole. I’ve known the owners for a few years, and they run a nice bar. I’m partial to lesser crowds and quiet atmosphere. I tend to be there in the early evenings before the party crowd shows. Always enjoyable. 5 star spot

THE HANDLEBAR SALOON IS. CLOSED……..Loved the old building turned in to bar/restaurant.. staff was very friendly, checked on us several time, the cook even came out to ask questionsabout order, to make sure the order was correct..

The only reason that this place is getting a 2 star review is because of great location and decor. Should have a 1 star based on food. The clam chowder, cold and had no clams and SUPER salty. Burger was pale, lacked any
seasonings, had almost a “refrigerator” taste to it. Was ordered without tomato, added pickle…came with tomato and NO pickle. Quesadilla would have been good…but that haunting “refrigerator” taste was there too. 4 chicken wings…good flavor but had to be baked because the skin was so soft soggy it’s the only explanation for why it was almost slimy.
Fries…how do you lack here? Clearly frozen…which would be ok with me..but baked in oven? Whhhhyyyy??? Explained the 45 minute wait, apps came with our dinners oven must have needed preheating. I’d understand that..and the small kitchen if they were busy. They were not. Even the waitress said it was slow. 4 tables and as i saw only we had an order in for food at that time.
Burger with fries, 4 chicken wings, a quesadilla with a cup of clam chowder…served cold. One beer and one mixed drink…$64 bucks not including the 20% tip. Reasonable for decent food. But not for what we were served.
Been in Houlton 10 years and ate at some shady places. This is the only one that made me actually give a review due to a problem with ALL the food served. One or two things subpar…that’s ok. But everything? Such a let down.
