5-star is probably too much, but definitely worth more than 4.5.
Service is great. Place looks pretty clean and the tables are not crowding each other. Food is very fast.
I had pork belly noodles. It’s tasty. The presentation is great. A deep bowl (good for having lots of soup), white porcelain bowl and spoon looks really clean. I loved everything in the dish: noodles, green vegetables, pork belly stews, sour veggies, the soup. Definitely finished every bite and piece and soup. Delicious. Xiao Long Bao on the menu looks good and I was tempted to order—but I was almost going to skip dinner. This tells you how much I enjoyed my noodles. And I am very picky! (There’s only 2-3 Chinese restaurants I regard highly).
The dish was slightly on the salty side—but I am an ultra low salt person in my family.
The noodles seemed from dry noodles not hand made—not as chewy as the world best noodles I had in LA. But the texture was still good
Highly recommended—would ask if my child would like to come tomorrow (just visiting LA—leaving tomorrow night).

Follow up: I ended up going there 3 times in two days (yes I am a very boring person), trying 3 different noodles. Still recommend all. I love a noodle bowl that came out boiling hot—it’s a Must for me. The taste and presentation were consistent There are some complaints though (not worth knocking off a star ⭐️ though):
1. Second time, it was 2 times more salty than I liked. Third time I noted “1/3 salt “ on my order, then it came out same salty level as first time (ie more salty than I prefer). I did ask for an extra half bowl of noodle water, and always finished every bite and drip of my noodle bowl .
2. Third time, the veggies stems were cold, which I don’t like.

Of the three, I highly recommend the more expensive beef noodles: the extra beef and different kinds of it makes it well worth the extra 2-3 bucks.

I had heard that the pickled fish and grilled fish here were incredibly delicious, so I came here today specifically to try them. The seasoning and preparation were very authentic, and it certainly didn’t disappoint my Chinese palate.

The Baseline
The Baseline: For a Chinese noodle restaurant the noodles must be fresh, cooked with consistency in firmness, broth must be tasty with good body, accompaniment additions must match with the style, and the plating must work for the soup/noodle presentation/function.

Food: Good consistency to the noodles and the broth was spicy but not overwhelmingly so. The meat was good but I did get a tendon piece in it. I wish I got more veggies in it but that wasn’t what I ordered. I think I would love this more on a colder day and I ate in the restaurant. The to-go was very hot temperature wise and that made it a lot better when I ate at the office. I have been here before an had dumplings that were very good so I think it is better to eat at the restaurant.

Service: The service was great picking up food with minimal wait and friendly interaction. The in person service is really efficient and to the point which I can appreciate.

Atmosphere: It is a nice lay out for tables/seating though the ordering kiosk takes away from a higher scale experience. The technology improves and we will have more of these type of layouts. Clean bathrooms.

The food was really good. We each ordered a noodle dish. There was only a brief wait. When we walked in they asked us how many in our party and then promptly cleaned off a table. I only gave atmosphere 4 stars because it was really loud in there. One very loud party behind me plus the music. It was hard to hear across the table. But I think we’ll be adding this place to our Sawtelle rotation now.

Easily one of the best noodle spots in West LA — the kind of restaurant that keeps you coming back. Few things feel more nostalgic than sitting down to a bowl of their House Special Beef Innards Noodles after being far from home. The chili oil is rich and aromatic, the innards are tender and deeply infused with flavor, the noodles are perfectly firm, and the cilantro adds a refreshing herbal lift. Every element feels thoughtfully prepared and flawlessly executed.

Beyond their signature noodles, the crystal rice noodles are a standout — light and refreshing, perfect for hot summer days. The menu also features an extensive selection of appetizers, all solidly executed and worth exploring.

Dong Ting Noodle is located in a heavily trafficked and prime location along Sawtelle Blvd between Santa Monica Blvd and Olympic Blvd. It was disappointing for us to see their “soft opening” signage outside and to learn from our server that they’ve been open for a year! The soft opening is what initially lured us in and I felt conned by the false advertising which is the rationale behind my less than stellar review.

Having said that, we tried a number of items off their menu. The Wild Chili Beef in Chinese Pita and House Crispy Shredded Potato Salad were winners. Their version of Juicy Pork Dumplings were flat in shape and average tasting at best. The House Pork Rib Noodle Soup was bland even after adding chili sauce. The Black Truffles and Mushroom Shaomai were the most disappointing – there was only a mild hint of truffle and it just did not taste good. I recommend taking down the soft opening signage and with so many other quality dining options along Sawtelle, we won’t be making a return visit.

Just discovered this new spot, in the Sawtelle neighborhood! The staff (maybe the owner too?) were so friendly and welcoming. The place is cleaning, the food was amazing, portions are huge, and the prices are reasonable. We got a big, super flavorful bowl of pork belly rice for under $10 and my bf kept saying, “oh my god, this is so good.” I loved the house beef noodle! Must try! Definitely feels like a place we’ll be coming back to often!

There wasn’t a Chinese noodle soup restaurant in West LA other than Mr Rice. It’s a good restaurant but it comes with hefty parking fees (finding parking near UCLA can be a nightmare, I ended up paying over $20 for parking). Then DongTing Noodle came to save the day! I love coming back here when I need a light meal that’s healthy and delicious! I have to say though, if you like noodle soup with a mild taste, then this restaurant is definitely worth a try! This place is cozy and clean ! Customer service is great, too ! You would order your food by scanning the QR code located on your table!

The food:

House Special Beef Rice Noodle Soup (10/10):
This is by far my number 1 dish in the restaurant! The beef was juicy and mildly chewy! The soup smelled good and tasted really healthy! The rice noodles are neither soggy nor hard to chew! The portion was generous! It was mildly spicy, which adds to the flavor! Loved it !

Soy sauce braised Pork Ribs Rice Noodle Soup (9/10):
I loved this too. The pork was really savory. I didn’t give this 10/10 just cos the soup could do with a little more salt!

Red Braised Pork Noodle Soup (10/10):
This is my number 2 recommended dish from the restaurant! The meat was my favorite part of the dish ! The fatty part was maybe 1/3 of the meat on every chop of the meat, which I thought was a great balance (too much fats on the pork can be a little heavy on the after taste)!

Soy Braised Beef Slices w/ Cilantro (10/10):
**THIS IS A COLD DISH** I enjoyed this, the spice wasn’t so overwhelming that you couldn’t taste the beef slices! This is a good appetizer to consider!

Crispy Chicken (10/10):
Wow! There are literally so many restaurants selling popcorn chicken in Sawtelle, I would say this is perhaps one of the better ones because the chicken were juicy and crispy! Seasoning was also on point! Thus, making this also a good appetizer to start your meal!

Mini Pumpkin Pie (10/10):
If you want something sweet and chewy, let this dish satisfy your cravings! I have come here thrice and never once have I gone without ordering this dish!

Overall, I really enjoy this noodle soup restaurant and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to take a break from Japanese ramen , it’ll be worth it!

TIPS: if you like spice ️ and would love more flavor on your food, then add the chopped chili provided on your table (I added the picture on this post for reference)!

Nice place with awesome soups! Reminded me of Russian style soups. thick broth, tasty noodles, and a good size portion. Pricing is reasonable, too.

Good atmosphere and vibes—‘perfect lunch spot in sawtelle for that beef noodle soup craving you’ve been thinkin about.

I’ve actually tried this place dine in and out!
The wood ear x innards x tofu skin salad is so mouth watering— spicy and flavorful.

The noodle soups come with large portion and the flavor is so so good (for dine in)—
I think the noodle soup delivery just doesn’t hit the same— but still tasty!! The meat is always delicious and so are the noodles 🙂
The 盐酥鸡 here— my gawdddd chefs kiss THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. The right about of crispy textured and the perfect savory spicy notes that makes you want to literally inhale it. You can’t deny how good it is and they really give the basil to ya too— the Chinese broccoli as a side dish is also solid choice

The beef noodle soups alone is about 18-19 bucks I think? So I would say the meal can easily be 20-30 bucks depending on what sides you got to order with. But if you’ve got a small stomach— bring a pal and split a bowl!!

Will totes come back for other dishes 10000/10!!
