One of the best meals I’ve ever had in Encinitas— A must try! This place feels fresh and inspired. You’re immediately transported to a trendy villa in Mexico with an aire of heritage and culture. The owner is from a successful line of restauranteurs in Mexico. It’s clear he knows what he’s doing from the atmosphere to the cuisine. The chips and salsa are delicious, fresh and unique (all made in house). We ordered the Mole Enchiladas and Tuna Tostadas, which were both incredible and would order again on our next visit. Then, of course, couldn’t resist the finale dessert of churros! (Filled with pastry cream with chocolate dunking sauce on the side). The entire experience was an absolute treat and I can’t wait to go back and introduce more people to this local gem.

Very cute place, good vibes, the food is excellent and the drinks are amazing! Corey was super helpful and lovely too. He made all of our delicious drinks but my favorite was the Mezcal Tamarindo. Great service from everyone. Lovely night!

Upscale Mexican cuisine is perfect for those who want the bold flavors and unique spices of Mexico and would like to experience something other than the traditional taco shop menu. The atmosphere is family friendly as well as being a good place to celebrate a special occasion. This was my first time visiting and will happily return.

Best elevated Mexican food I’ve had in San Diego! We got the shrimp ceviche, the grilled octopus, and the chicken mole. Perfect portion sizes and the tostada chips and salsa were addicting. That was the best mole I’ve had, but that octopus is really something else. Definitely coming back for that and we want to try more on the menu! SD, put this place on!

The only mistake I made was going with just one other person. I feel like a big group so you can try everything on the menu is the way to go. I did not get to try the Peruvian ceviche which I know I would have loved. I did not get to try the pizza birria. The mango michelada was the second best michi I’ve had in my life. The first best just was magical. It was in Xochimilco. Hard to top and I certainly wasn’t expecting it to be so bomb. It had this blue candy on the rim with these toasted honey sweet sesame seeds oh my gosh. I would have liked the Ensenada style fish taco from the taco trio to be crispier, but that’s just how I am. The flavor was spot on. The Sonoran steak taco was delicious, but I could only eat a bite and I skipped the shrimp taco. I didn’t care for the look of it. Will definitely be back, especially for that micheladaaaaaaaa

Finally! A REAL Mexican seafood restaurant in North County that isn’t afraid to offer fresh, high-quality food that cuts no corners. This is our new place for date night, birthday celebrations, and family dinners.

Puntamar is about as legit as youre going to get and goes toe to toe with spots down in Baja. Great location, service and food. Really glad to have a restaurant like this in the area.

We really liked Puntamar. Glad we finally tried it and will be back. Highlights were the Pizzabirria and shrimp. Great to have a seafood led Mexican restaurant that’s a little more upscale, but still authentic.

Service was super attentive and nice. Our waiter was actually the owner. Walked in. There’s descent noise in the main outdoor area under the roof, but in a good way and if you want quieter there’s a separate patio section.

Slightly off the more touristy centre of Encinitas, easy to find location on the main road. Plenty of parking spaces in front of the restaurant and large setup with good amount of tables with open and semi open spaces.

Everything we ordered was really good, flavourful and quantities were adequate. The drinks were okay but not great.

With excellent service, the whole dining experience was excellent. Will surely visit again.

This place reminds me of CDMX! Had the best flame grilled shrimp I’ve ever had, I’m still thinking about it. The dips it came with were flavorful but not overwhelming!! The west oysters were also super fresh & yummy. Ceviche was solid – the aguachile had a smokey quality to it I wasn’t used. Churros had a berry jam in them – not my preference but were solid & came with a surprise haha.
Our server wasn’t the most attentive but overall I would definitely come back!
