Chipotle chicken Philly (added mushrooms) was great. It was so full that I couldn’t fold together to eat. Ended up eating like an open face. Wife had beef taco salad (served old style in a fried shell) was huge portion as well. Lots of fresh jalapenos on it, so be careful.

Awesome food, awesome service. Never had a bad meal here. The cheese curds and onion rings are absolute perfection. We got the beer battered shrimp, simply amazing

After a 10 mile bicycle ride on the Great River Ridge State Trail arriving in Elgin we decided to stop for lunch. The Blacktop Bar and Grill is mere steps located right on Main Street. Established in 2020, this family-owned and operated bar offers a place to eat, meet and greet locals with the usual fare of burgers, starters, salads, baskets and skillets, sandwiches and wraps. Open floor concept with the typical L shape bar, tables and chairs, a few flat screen TVs and an open window from the kitchen for food orders. After receiving our drinks and menus we soon ordered and being the place was nearly empty our order was soon for pickup. Placed on the open window and signaled by the chef with the dinging of the bell our Bacon Chicken Ranch Wrap and International Falls Salad sat. Our inattentive waitress remained at the bar conversing with the bartender and the two remaining patrons seated there. After a short time, one of our party got up and getting the attention of the waitress we received our food. Our wrap had a decent amount of chunky crispy chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato and Ranch dressing wrapped in a tortilla. All wraps, sandwiches and burgers come à la cart and sides come at a cost. We ordered a side of tator tots that came deep fried to a crisp. Overall good taste and simple presentation of food in a laidback atmosphere.

Four of us stopped for lunch today and it was our first time. Meatball sliders, lord of the rings burger, steak fajitas and the lunch special fish tacos. All the food was excellent. But the prize goes to the onion rings. You absolutely must try. So delicious

I have only been here at lunchtime. Burger, onion rings, and the zuppa Toscana were all excellent. The place was quiet and friendly. The service was good too.

Under the new ownership, the menu has remained unchanged; however, the quality of the produce has noticeably declined in comparison to that sourced by the previous proprietors. As a result, the overall value no longer justifies the associated cost or travel effort

When does scratch cooking include bad boxed mac n cheese? Food cold and overly salty. Atmosphere dumpy. Over priced as well!

I’ve ate here once and got food to go once seeing I work in the area. I don’t like to give bad reviews and try to support local small business. When I ate there the chicken strip were great but with my second bite of my side had hair in it. I get it, it happens. When telling the waitress she just kinda shrugged it off. I was hoping she was gonna ask if I wanted a different side seeing I hadn’t ate any of it and wasn’t going to seeing there was hair in it. When I got my food to go I once again got the chicken strips cuz they were good the last time. 2 of the 4 pieces were so burnt and over done I couldn’t eat them and the other 2 were burnt but could choke them down with enough water. Only giving a 2 cuz the chicken was good the first time
