First time at Tortilleria y Restaurante Artesanal and it was fantastic. Barbacoa and pastor both great and they make all their masa and a bunch of different types of tortillas. Machete can feed 4 people

This is a fantastic Mexican restaurant! For our first time, we ordered a taco, gordita, tamale, and sope, and all of them were amazing. For a drink I ordered their cafe de olla and it had just the right amount of cinnamon and sweetness. As we were sitting there, they served us fantastic homemade chips and salsa. Since we were stuffed, we brought home pozole and quinoa con leche — arroz con leche with quinoa. Next time we are in, we’ll order a machete and quesadilla!

This place is GREAT! We’re in Dallas on vacation and picked a taco spot at random after visiting the local mall and we couldn’t be happier. I ordered the quesobirria and my friend ordered the beef taco plate each with a Mexican Coke. We chose to eat there and the women behind the counter were very kind and helpful. They brought us complimentary chips and salsa, sauces for our food, and turned on music videos. If I lived here I’d eat here all of the time! The food was fresh and delicious, service was prompt and considerate. One note to consider is that the menu is all Spanish- so it’s good to have an idea of what you’re looking for.

I would give Tortilleria El Maizal Artesanal 10 stars if I could. The food is absolutely amazing. I had the Bistec Quesadilla and I felt that I was eating something from my home town in Mexico. Menudo is served all day and the pozole is served all day, which is such a rare find. The staff is absolutely wonderful, and it feels like home. I highly recommend if you are in the north dallas area and are in the mood for some authentic Mexican food, please stop by this place you will not regret it.

This is a good taco spot. Found it in a recent Dallas Observer article. I liked the Al pastor taco here. The cajeta churro was absolutely delicious! So warm and soft. I was also a fan of the strawberry tamale!
I didn’t like the barbacoa taco. The cactus taco wasn’t bad. If you want tacos here, get Al pastor. I feel like the cajeta churro is a requirement if you go. It’s so good!

Excellent and authentic food. Nice and spicy, just the way I like it. Had the taco plate combo (barbacoa, carnitas and pastor) and the chips and salsa. It was delicious. Restaurant was clean, staff was friendly, and service was quick and efficient. I will be back.
