The restaurant was a very beautiful place to visit and we came to the Ranch House with expectations of a fabulous meal.
Unfortunately we were quite disappointed with the food and service during our meal.
We started with a Caesar Salad and the Potato/Corn Chowder. Both of these looked great but did not have a great deal of flavor.
We ordered the $198 Wagyu Tasting for our main entree. It came with 3 different cuts of meat which we had to cook over a hot stone. None of the three meats had much flavor and the portion size was very small for a $198 entree. The hot stone was a nice presentation and worked well, but the overall flavor and tenderness of the Wagyu was not very good.
We had sides of Creamed Spinach and Yukon Potatoes. Both of these were presented well but again, lacked any sense of flavor. On the positive side, the portion size was generous, but we were again disappointed with the taste.
We skipped dessert because our expectation was that it would be disappointing after the rest of our meal.
We ordered a bottle of wine and the server poured our first glass, but after that we were on our own to refill ourselves. On a positive note, the wine list was extensive and quite impressive.
Overall, we were happy to have seen the restaurant and visited it, but we will not be going back again.

Oh my god this was the best meal of our lives! We started with the tartare and immediately knew we were in for an incredible meal. Our server (Rose) was so kind, friendly, and helpful. She made our experience 10 times better. The bread was also incredible, even though it wasn’t the star of the show. For our meal, we had the tenderloin and the elk medallions. I will never be able to eat steak again, it’s been ruined! Nothing will ever compare to the juicy, melt in your mouth, absolutely perfect wagyu we had here. And elk with wagyu bacon???? I’m sorry but that’s insane. We absolutely loved it! This whole meal was so rude! No meal we have will ever stack up to this! We had the chocolate hazelnut tart for desert and as a shocker to no one, it was also delicious! We are still talking about this meal and I don’t think we’ll stop anytime soon.
The only negative: there was a 15-20 minute wait even though we had reservations. We got free drinks as an apology. Between the free drinks and delicious meal, we didn’t mind the wait.

Amazing experience at Ranch House! Everything: the food, the service, and the atmosphere was wonderful. We came to celebrate our engagement and were not disappointed. The halibut was delicious as was the chicken. We couldn’t not get the family-style side of umami fries which were to die for. We opted for dessert to go and the banana cake was beautiful and light. The atmosphere is cozy and ranchesque-elegant. Exceptional service from our server Rose, Allison, and Anna and everyone else we interacted with!

Dustyn our server was awesome, the pineapple Negroni to start couldn’t have been more balanced. The wine service was on point. The Waygu hot stone was out of this world.
We also had the potato puree along with the creamed spinach. Everything exceeded our expectations for the evening. Can’t wait to come back next year.

We had the most amazing dinner at Devil’s Thumb Ranch House restaurant! We were celebrating our 30th anniversary. The views are gorgeous and very picturesque. From the moment we walked in until we walked out, we had top notch service and food. The experience was perfect for our anniversary dinner. I had the Alaskan halibut and it was melt in your mouth delicious. The flavors were amazing. My husband had the elk tenderloin and said it was equally delicious. When we arrived, we were served with two glasses of champagne for our anniversary. Then at the end of the meal, we were given a complimentary dessert. We chose the gluten free chocolate cake and it was so good. Also, I want to mention that I had plenty of gluten free options and the serving staff are well versed in gluten allergies. The Ranch House made us feel special and we cannot wait to return!

I hate to go this low however my wife and I had planned this dinner for months and were excited for farm to table Wagyu beef. I ordered the ribeye which is traditionally a fatty steak with lots of flavor. The Wagyu version tends to be even more fatty. What I was served were two pieces of meat that were tough and devoid of fat. And devoid of flavor. Having had Wagyu steak in the past I was very disappointed. My wife ordered the lamb shank. Certainly very tender however if you told me it was a pork shank I would have believed you and very little flavor as well. We had the steak tartar as an appetizer and it was good but not great. Service was about what I would expect from a decent Chili’s. These cattle they serve may be genetically Wagyu however how they process is certainly not the same. My wife and I did purchase two steaks from a farmers market in Granby that were excellent, but you might have to cook those on your own. Worth it though.

Beautiful, romantic setting and top-notch service made this a wonderful place to celebrate a big birthday. Food was delicious as well, though bacon bits on the spinach salad were tough and bread was too white and boring for my taste. Though we loved the salted butter shmear presentation!
