Pure One is a small, no-frills spot with very limited seating. Think counter-style vibes with a couple of tables and a bench. If more than eight people are eating at once, it’s basically a full house. Drinks are all canned, and the menu is way bigger than you’d expect for a place with “fish and chips” in the name. This isn’t just fish and chips. It almost eats like a Hawaiian-style spot. You’ve got fish, shrimp, scallops, combo catches, bowls, katsu plates, teriyaki plates, ribs, broiled fish options, burgers, chicken sandwiches, and even organic drinks like teas and slushies.
We ordered a mix so we could try a few things. My uncle went with the basic fish and chips but subbed onion rings instead of fries, and he immediately said those onion rings were really, really good. Like, standout good. I got the Triple Catch combo with fries, plus a chicken sandwich to go. That worked out perfectly because we got to try both the fries and the onion rings, and both were excellent. Crispy, clean, not greasy, just done right.
The fish itself was fresh and cooked really well, but the real surprise was the sauces. Everything here is house-made, including the tartar sauce, and that tartar sauce is legit. It’s light, not overly tangy, and insanely good. My uncle practically guarded it like it was liquid gold and put it on everything.
Prices are very fair, but portion-wise you should order smart. The two-piece fish and chips is around $11–$12, and that’s not a mistake. It’s priced that way because it’s not meant to destroy you. If you’ve got a decent appetite, go at least three pieces or step up to one of the plates with rice. The plates run higher, but I’d expect those to be more filling. The chicken sandwich was around $8, a solid size, and good quality for the price.
The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and the parking situation is easy with plenty of free parking. It’s in the same strip mall as LA Fitness, right next to Subway, and judging by the crowd while we were there, this is very much a neighborhood favorite.
Bottom line: really good food, fair prices, and a menu that gives you a lot of options beyond just fish and chips. Between the fresh fish, great sauces, and those onion rings my uncle couldn’t stop talking about, this is a spot I’ll definitely be back to, especially to try the plates next time.
Will come back again.
It just doesn’t seem like a place for me. I recommend other people give it a try.
