For a chain restaurant, the Newport Prezzo Italian is genuinely one of the better ones around. Prezzo as a whole has really improved its menu over the last few years, and this branch shows that off well. The pasta dishes are some of the nicest and quickest you can get if you want good food without a long wait.
The 2 for 1 drinks are a big plus, especially if you’re grabbing food before a night out. The Newport restaurant itself feels modern and fresh, with a lovely pastel colour palette, and it’s always spotless whenever I visit. I also really like being able to see the chefs working in the semi open kitchen it adds a nice touch.
The front of house staff are friendly and always happy to help with recommendations. A lot of them have been there a while too, which is nice to see and makes the place feel familiar and well run. It’s a family friendly restaurant but still feels cosy and relaxed.
Food wise, you can’t really go wrong. I’m a big fan of the lasagne and the Bolognese, and the pizza range is solid too. The sides deal is decent value 2 for £8 and if you come here regularly like I do, the Club Prezzo membership is definitely worth having.
Overall, it’s a reliable, comfortable place to eat in Newport city centre, and easily one of the stronger major chains in the UK.

As a very frequent visitor here, I’m never disappointed. The food and services has always been outstanding. Very well done to all the staff that work here. I will try food from the Christmas menu in the next visit. Highly recommend, 10/10.

Last Saturday we were in Newport for the rugby we’re based in Holland but I had a few Italian friends over from Bardi in Emilia Romagna, which is basically holy land when it comes to cheese and I confidently ordered a Quattro Formaggi; what arrived was a Margherita, which we politely pointed out (because even after a few drinks we can still count to four), the pizza was whisked away and triumphantly returned five minutes later, at which point I took two bites and realised it was the exact same Margherita, only now lightly dusted with Parmesan as if someone in the kitchen had shouted “Quick! Snow it and hope for the best!”; when I mentioned this, I was assured that the gorgonzola and other cheeses were “mixed into the sauce,” apparently operating in stealth mode, invisible to both sight and taste, which sent my Italian friends into fits of laughter and confirmed for them that the legend of questionable British interpretations of Italian food is alive and well somewhere in Emilia Romagna a nonna surely felt a disturbance in the force and honestly, I would only ever return to this restaurant if my son (who is a truly terrible cook) volunteered to make dinner instead.
