The food was solid overall. We came in during brunch, and I ordered the fried oysters with waffles. The waffles were the real standout—buttery, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with pearl sugar that added great texture and just the right amount of sweetness. I didn’t even need syrup. These aren’t your typical breakfast-place waffles; they’re definitely a step above.
The fried oysters were just okay. They were cooked well, but nothing particularly exciting. I wouldn’t order them again, but I’d absolutely come back for the waffles alone.
My husband ordered the $13 lunch combo, which included chicken bites, fries, and a canned soda. The chicken was good—about five or six fresh, nicely breaded, two-inch square nuggets that were cooked well. It came with honey mustard (likely Ken’s). The fries were a decent portion but very bland. He felt it needs more seasoning or salt at least.
– Crab Soup(bisque):
unexpectedly delicious. I believe crab and lobster soup can be very hit and miss and this was a hit. It was very creamy and full of flavor and nice texture.
– Fried Okra:
Also unexpected presentation. Full of flavor and the hot honey gave it a sweet kick
– Turkey Melt:
Meat was very moist, I’m not typically a fan of sandwiches with bbq sauce unless it is brisket or sloppy Joe but this was just the perfect amount, like a touch of bbq sauce so as to not overwhelm but still get the Smokey sweet taste to enhance the smoked turkey
– Baked hair of the dog Skillet(brunch menu)
I actually was not a fan of this but my husband loved it. Though The chicken was very crisp and juicy.
Overall value for price 10/10
Highly recommend! Enjoy!
I started with glass of the Gran Familia Rioja tempranillo. Slighly tart and so juicy. I need to add this bottle to my home bar ASAP.
The brussels sprouts were perfectly cooked: nice and crunchy with delightfully crispy skin, and drizzled with a sweet orange glaze. I sprinkled a little bit of salt on top, and the sweet/salty combination just took it over the top!
The gnocchi was chewy and cheesy and oh-so good. Loved it!
The smoked, dry rubbed wings were ever so slightly crispy on the outside, and perfectly cooked on the inside. I would have liked to taste a little more of that smoke flavor, but they were still good.
The flourless chocolate torte… Unbelievable. Rich, but not heavy or overbearing. The chocolate was delightfully dark but not bitter. Just when I thought my meal couldn’t get any better… This dessert was the perfect conclusion to an already divine dining experience. If “death by chocolate” tastes like this, well then I’m all ready to go.
As delicious as the food was, the staff was even better. They were so welcoming— smiles and all— from the second I stepped in. They seemed genuinely happy to see me and I immediately felt comfortable. Emily was my server and in addition to being an absolute delight, she allowed me to enjoy my incredible meal in peace without checking in incessantly. Of everything I enjoyed about this dining experience, I think I enjoyed that most of all.
Listen, I don’t care what you’re doing or what’s on your agenda… If you are in or anywhere NEAR Lynchburg, you absolutely MUST add this bistro to your list of places to visit. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
The prices are a little high, but matches the food. Highly recommend the Wild Mushrooms and Brussels Sprouts. They are so good.
And if Brian, with an “I”, is behind the bar, be sure to order a cocktail. His service is bar none and his hospitality impeccable. Highly recommend for anyone in the Lynchburg area.
