When I came in it felt unwelcoming. It was both a man and lady there eating and the vibe was as if they didn’t want to do anything or want me there. However, the lady and the man got up and went to the back to make the food.
Store is clean. I checked everything out and looked around. I like how I can see them preparing my food. They appeared to have everything in the back area clean and orderly. I was pleased to see this.
Food was good. Hot and fresh. Honestly, as of current, this is the best chinese spot in my opinion. I been to a few of them in the CU area. Been to the Golden Harbor, Cravings (on campus), a spot downtown Champaign and a spot in Urbana (over by the Salt and Light). Out of all of them, they (the Green Jade) had the best tasting Chinese food to me.
The only recent I deducted a star is due to the vibes. It was no smile from the lady or the guy. No hello, no nothing. It seemed like an attitude coming from the lady. Maybe that’s just how her mood is, idk? However, the food was good, and she did say “thank you”. I plan to go back because I like Chinese food and the food was good. But if I notice any foul behavior [w/ preparing my food] and/or if the vibes are just too “iffy” to me, my next time may be my last time.

When my husband and I went there , it was late afternoon and it wasn’t busy. We were never greeted and asked them if they were ready to take our order. The woman was rude. When our food was ready, she sat it on the counter and didn’t say anything. Good thing we were watching. It was bad customer service and a bad vibe but the food, I won’t lie, was pretty good.

Too bad I couldn’t give zero stars. They close at 9….I called at 820 and asked if they could do an order. They said yes but were incredibly rude. The first 2 things I asked for they said they were out of. Obviously they didn’t want to do my order that late but then maybe u shouldn’t list that u are open until 9. An order only takes 15 minutes and honestly the food sucks compared to everywhere else anyway!!! And the rudeness was shocking. Eat somewhere else!!!!!

Green Jade.. simple & good! I would order from here again. The food was affordable and tasty. Nothing fancy but nothing worth being upset about. Great for an order in night! Not much to rave about for those that like to dine in the restaurant but it looked clean and tidy.

Kung Pao had no taste, and the pieces of chicken were way too soft. Sesame Chicken was tasty. Rice was nicely cooked. Hot and Sour soup was very tasty with quality ingredients. The service was very prompt, but not too friendly or welcoming. However, when coming in for a quick bite, it is not a deal breaker. The place would have received at least four stars from me, if it were not for the following serious issue: It was quite dirty inside with stained, even sticky tables, and nasty overfilled garbage bin, which is right at the entrance, so you cannot avoid it. Their garbage bin is beyond filthy- there is a thick layer of dried up food at the very opening. It is obvious that it has been there for months. We were totally grossed out!! It was that way even several months ago, but I wanted to give them another chance.

So i have been coming here for awhile now. And it just seems to be going down hill. Tonight 1/12/2026 I place an order for a 615 pick up. I get in the restaurant at 605 and my food is just sitting on the counter. They are very slow with customers tonight. So why is my food done over 10 minutes early. I get it to my house which is only 3 blocks away. And my food is barely warm. This will be the last time they get my money. I will go else where from now on.
This truly sucks. Because this place used to be so good. Now I am so let down and dont even want my food.

Hot, fresh, fast Chinese food with generous portions. Pretty typical of what you expect from a small Chinese restaurant in a plaza.
COVID-19 update: they’ve transformed their doors into a make shift walk up window. I was able to order online and pay when I arrived. You can no longer go in the restaurant, at least this was the case at lunch.
