After finishing our Spanish class and enjoying some nice masala tea, we were thinking about what to have for dinner. My son wanted to go out for some good non-vegetarian food, so I called Mint – the last Indian restaurant in Montevideo I hadn’t yet explored, and booked a table at 9:40 PM. We arrived around 10:15 PM.
The location and ambiance are excellent, I’d say the best compared to their competition.
For starters, we ordered Samosa and Vegetarian Manchurian for ourselves, and Chicken Koliwada for our son, along with a Negroni. We all loved the taste and flavors, which paired beautifully with the drinks.
For mains, we went with Lahori Paneer for us and Mutton Handi for our son, accompanied by Mint Naan and Garlic Naan.
Everything was up to our expectations, the flavors were authentic and delicious.
The server and owner, Mr. Aman, were exceptional with their hospitality and made us feel truly welcome.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality Indian cuisine in Montevideo!

Since we arrived early, we kicked things off with drinks while waiting for the rest of the gang:
– 4 Limo de Mango Chill
– Chai Spiced Old Fashion
– Pomelo Masala Fitz
Refreshing and well-balanced, each drink had its own character. Alongside, we ordered starters:
– Dragon Chicken (max spicy) – absolutely loved it
– Chilli Chicken – flavorful and satisfying
– Paneer Chilli – decent, but didn’t wow us
– Karam Dosa & Masala Dosa – crispy and delicious; would’ve been perfect with sambar
A surprise treat came in the form of complimentary naan with dips—thoughtful and tasty.
For the main course, we went all in:
– Breads: Naan, Butter Naan, Roti, Mint Garlic Naan
– Curries: Mutton Rogan Josh, Chicken Kadai, Mix Veg, Paneer Butter Masala, Chicken Butter Masala
The Chicken Kadai, Mutton Rogan Josh, and Mix Veg were standouts—rich, spiced, and deeply satisfying. The butter masalas leaned sweeter than expected, which didn’t quite suit our taste, but the overall spread was generous and well-portioned.
Service was top-notch—attentive without being intrusive. Portions were just right, whether you’re dining solo or sharing as a couple.

I was both surprised and pleased with the service and especially the food at Mint. My expectation in Montevideo is under spiced underwhelming Asian type cuisine and this restaurant proved me totally wrong. The food was excellent The spice level was as requested The menu was well thought and broad and the service was friendly and excellent. I would heavily recommend this to anyone looking for something a little more adventurous in Montevideo than the standard parilla.
I hope it is in emblematic of what is going to come to the food scene in Montevideo.

The food was solid when it came but a bit of a different preparation of many traditional dishes. In addition, there was confusingly two menus and a number of items not available. For example, we selected this restaurant because of the dosa, but it turned out they weren’t even preparing those.
