We didn’t have a reservation, but luckily we’ve found a place around lunch time. The atmosphere is great and the service is exceptional, the waiters are extremely attentive to all the details. And the food.. soo tasty and traditional. The anchovies as a starter were a great choice, and for the main you can’t go wrong with anything based on pig. Crema catalana for desert was a great way to end this experience.

We didn’t have a reservation and decided to take the risk by asking for a free table and luckily, they had one.

We started with a salad, which was fine, and the morcilla, which was genuinely delicious. For the main course, we ordered the house specialty, the suckling pig and the lamb. Both were soft, warm, and full of flavor, very well prepared. For dessert, we had the cheesecake and the crema catalana, both excellent. We also enjoyed a bottle of wine.

The atmosphere is interesting and very traditional. There are many tourists, which is expected, but we were seated in the basement area and got a great table. That space felt especially unique, knowing the restaurant has been operating since 1725. I really loved the old interior, the details, and seeing the different rooms on the other floors.

A very cool experience and definitely worth visiting at least once in your life if you’re in Madrid.

Casa Bolton is a legendary historic institution in Madrid, and is fame means It’s always packed with tourist and nearly impossible to book. Pro tip, always listen to your wife! Thanks to her wisdom, we skipped the official online booking struggle, and join the standby line about 20 minutes before they open for lunch on the weekday, offseason. We were thrilled to snug a table right away! If you can’t get a reservation, arrive early for a standby line it’s definitely the way to go.

Stepping inside, Bolton is like traveling back in time. The rich oak wall scarred by centuries of history, create a warm, prestigious atmosphere, stepped in tradition. The top rated service is truly matches the setting; every staff member made us feel welcome and warm, contributing to a wonderful and enjoyable meal. Everything, from the excellent wine selection and appetizers down to the entrées, was superb. Our only regret? We order individual serving of famous roasted suckling pig, instead of the larger, whole pig portion(served 6 ppl)– definitely something to remember for next time! This is a absolute must visit when in Madrid.

If you’re in Madrid, you should definitely visit the oldest restaurant in the world — especially when the food is this good. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance, as it’s a very popular spot.

We started with the chicken and ham croquettes, which were crispy on the outside and creamy inside — a solid and enjoyable appetizer. For the main course, we tried their traditional roast suckling pig, the restaurant’s signature dish. The skin was perfectly crisp and golden, while the meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and full of rich flavor — clearly prepared with great care and tradition.

We also ordered the grilled veal filet, which was cooked beautifully, tender and well-seasoned, with a delicate flavor that made it a great complement to the heavier roast pork.

Of course, we paired everything with sangria, which was refreshing and well-balanced. The ambiance was very charming and authentic, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxed without being too loud, making for a comfortable dining experience.

Overall, a memorable experience with fantastic food, historic charm, and great service — highly recommended.

Was in Madrid for a week and this was hands down the best dinner we had. Food was fabulous. Service was fantastic. And the ambiance and environment was second to none.

Reservations are highly recommended. We got there half hour before opening and made the line and we were fortunate to have gotten a table without a reservation.

Once we were seated, we were greeted by a host and waiter. Within minutes we ordered our drinks and food.

Tremendous dining experience. From the vermouth to the appetizer and the main entree, everything was delicious. The Roast Stickling Pig in itself is worth the visit and a must. The Cozido soup is another must. Wish we had places like this back home. Will definitely be visiting again next time I’m in Madrid.

Botín in Madrid was such a lucky find — we managed to get a last-minute reservation, and it felt like hitting the jackpot.

The atmosphere is classic and cozy, and the live band playing was super cute, adding such a charming, lively touch to the evening without being overpowering.

Of course, the food lived up to the hype. Everything felt traditional, hearty, and full of flavor, making the experience genuinely memorable. Getting a table at the last minute made it feel even more special — like the city was giving us a little secret spot to enjoy.

Totally recommend going if you can snag a reservation; it’s a perfect mix of history, good food, and that extra charm from the live music.

A must try in Madrid! A restaurant that is full of history, and over 300 years old! The suckling pork is great and brilliantly serviced in the antique settings. Although some review suggested service is variable, our service has been great from the very beginning: there was no booking available online, but after a short email, I received a swift reply and booking confirmation! Service of the day was great and attentive. Highly recommended.

I visited the oldest restaurant in the world with three childhood friends and we had an amazing lunch. You can feel the history the second you walk in. The place is warm busy and full of character. The old wood fired oven is still working and the roast meat is incredible. Simple food but done perfectly. If you are in Madrid this is not just dinner it is a real experience.

A must experience restaurant in Madrid, if you can get a table. Reservations book out easily a month in advance but if you arrive at least an hour early for lunch service you may be lucky enough to grab a table on walk-in. I believe generally they have 3 to 6 tables available for walk-ins. We arrived 90 minutes before the opening at 1pm and were first in line but 15 minutes later and you would be out of luck. Now on to the experience one of the best in Madrid. We had the roasted suckling pig and it was all I was hoping for. I would have liked to have tried the lamb but maybe another day. The pig was cooked to perfection with a crispy skin and a moist interior served with roasted potatoes. My wife had the Gazpacho with was phenomenal and I had the garlic soup and would easily have it again. For dessert we had a chocolate ice cream and their famous cheesecake. Get the cheesecake! Service was amazing and they have a wonderful wine selection. Side note order the artichoke hearts they looked amazing. Don’t miss out on any of it

Dining at Botín is more than just a meal — it’s an experience, and a truly memorable one at that.

The service was excellent from start to finish. The staff were friendly, attentive, and eager to help with recommendations, which turned out to be spot on. Despite having a reservation, we did have to wait in line outside, but it moved quickly and efficiently — nothing to worry about, just part of the experience at such an iconic place.

Now, let’s talk about the food:

The Cochinillo (roast suckling pig) is without a doubt the star of the show — tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It’s clearly a crowd favorite, and for good reason.

For dessert, the Tarta de Queso was an absolute standout — rich, creamy, and probably one of the best I’ve had.

We also ordered wine and sangría, and while both were enjoyable, the sangría really stole the spotlight — perfectly balanced and refreshing, a great match for the meal.

Overall, Botín lives up to its reputation. The food, service, and historic charm all come together for a special dining experience that’s worth the visit. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, it’s a place that should be on your list at least once.

Highly recommended.
