Well read the reviews but that’s not the only reason decided to try on the last day in Maui. The owners are relatives and my mom said to make sure I stop by if I had the time to say hello, Aloha to them. This hidden-gem is very easily located is in close proximity to the airport and cruise lines in Kahului, HI.

Very glad I did as they were warm and welcoming not just to us, but the others that were there as ot was fairly busy. They close by 6 but ran out of food before then so that’s a good indication of a locals spot to checkout when you’re in Maui.

Our group tried the chips with salsa and guac, and wow how fresh it was and tasty was great start!! The chicken quesadillas, tacos and chorizo torta were plenty to fill us up on our way out without breaking the bank as the prices were very reasonable considering we’re in Maui. All dishes got fantastic or wonderful by all and I specifically want to mention that the portions were more than we expected but ate every bit. The sorta with chorizo was my choice and while it looked dense the dish was not but packed with fresh flavors.

The owners and family all work there and chef came out to not just ask us but all the others how things were, which is a great touch from a casual and everyday place that Acevado’s Hawaicano Cafe has been cranking out since 2015.

Sooo good!! Best burritos I’ve had in the island! Service is friendly, welcoming and accommodating!! Atmosphere is ok. It’s just a little hole in the wall but don’t let the los deceive you! It’s worth a shot!! Highly recommend

I don’t like making reviews usually but I felt this was needed. The first few bites were good then I got to the carne asada and woah, I honestly haven’t tasted anything saltier in my life. Couldn’t even finish my burrito, super disappointed. Spent $60 too

I was actually researching where to eat in Hilo when I decided to test out the “best restaurants” near to me in Kahului so I could get an idea of how truthful the search was. That’s how I found this lunch-only spot. And with a 5-star average, it was worth a try.

ATMOSPHERE:
They’re located in the former Broke Da Mouth space. It’s small and simple with total seating for 12 inside, with two unprotected communal picnic tables outside.

MENU:
Tacos, burritos, tortas, Mexican plates, local plate lunches. They no longer offer the “crazy fries” as the current owner took over the place from his brother, but offers an off-the-menu “crazy nachos” in its place. The menu is customizable, so just ask.

FOOD:
Steak Burrito
The meat was tender with a good natural flavor though not very plentiful, and filled with pinto beans, jalapenos, tomatoes, raw onions, and rice which I got on the side. The overall flavor of the burrito was quite bland, regardless of the chipotle aioli inside which I couldn’t detect. Luckily I had salsa at home to wake it from its sleep. Good portion size.

Crazy Nachos
This was not listed on their menu but the owner/chef suggested it as I was inquiring on a dish they no longer offer which was the “crazy fries”. It was basically traditional nachos with a topping of your choice in which we chose pork. The pork cubes were super tender but very subtle in the flavor department. The guacamole was really tasty and creamy. But that’s where the joy ended. It wasn’t as cheesy as I had hoped for, lacked sour cream, and ended up being just vapid.

SERVICE:
The chef/owner was very welcoming and engaging, explaining in detail the menu and preparation. Food preparation was a quick in under 10 minutes.

OVERALL:
Absolutely fresh but the dishes need flavor infusion. Great service.

Great little spot, food is delicious but it’s located on a busy street. We ordered tacos and guacamole + salsa. There’s seating outside only.

I had two tacos: one al pastor and the other carnitas. Added guac and sour cream as extras. I’ve had tacos all over Mexico and in many places in California and elsewhere. These were some of the best ever. I went from across the island a second time –I enjoyed it so much the first. The people working there also could not have been nicer.

Stopped here for a late lunch and it did not disappoint to get authentic Mexican food! Had the guacamole, ranchero chicken and pork carnitas tacos- amazing! My fiancé had the chorizo burrito and it was incredibly flavorful. Must also mention their prices are great and portions are hefty. If you’re looking for a no frills spot for tasty food- look no further!

Fun ‘hole in the wall’ authentic, delicious and unique experience with amazingly friendly service.
I really enjoy finding out of the way places to eat, made to order, real food from owners and employees who really enjoy what they do.
I went alone and ordered Ceviche. It was delicious, fresh and beautifully done.
There are a few tables inside but more outside. Not even close to fine dining BUT we’ll worth trying for the fun ambience.
I loved watching the enthusiasm and genuine care given to every customer coming through the door, even the delivery of your food and checking back to make sure everything is okay.
I will definitely return and have already recommended to several friends!

BYOB, no bathrooms, limited parking on the street.

Our first stop in Maui after landing. The fish tacos, rice and beans and guacamole/chips were awesome. Fast, friendly service. We took burritos to go for later. Glad we skipped eating at the airports and waited for this. Five minute drive from the airport. Definitely recommend!
