This restaurant is truly one of a kind and stands out in the best way possible. From the moment you walk in, the excellent service makes you feel welcomed and taken care of. The staff is friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about making sure every guest has a great experience. The food is absolutely delicious, with generous portions that ensure you never leave hungry. Every dish is flavorful, well-prepared, and satisfying.

The atmosphere really ties everything together—it’s fun, lively, and upbeat, creating the perfect setting whether you’re out with friends, family, or just looking for a great place to unwind. There’s an energy here that makes the experience feel special and memorable. This is the kind of restaurant you happily return to again and again, not just for the food, but for the overall vibe and experience.

We LOVE Lamberts!! The food is always good & fresh. We never miss an opportunity when we’re traveling to stop in.
The throlled rolls are a fun start before you eat, while you eat & even when you’re almost done eating… if you can fit it in. Don’t forget to top it off with Sourgum or apple butter they pass around.
The meals all are good size. Add the pass arounds and you definitely don’t leave hungry. My only “somewhat” negative comment would be that it seems to take a while for the tomato macaroni & fried potatoes to come around….I had to ask our server to find the potatoe person because it was taking a bit.
The drink cups are quite large, so you don’t need a refill often, which is nice. You can order a dessert (mine’s always to go because I’m too full) and/or there’s a cart that come around with some items as well.
There’s a cute store to look around in, especially if the wait is going to take a bit. This was the Sikeston location & I noticed they have outdoor seating, which is exciting to me. I wish the Springfield location would do the same (if they haven’t already).
The Christmas decor was fun & even noticed they were playing Christmas shows/ movie on the TV in the dining room.

This was a delightful and fun stop on our way traveling across country. Service was great and fast. Food was hot and very delicious. We had the pot roast dinner and chicken dumplings. Portions were good and the food was hot. But the most entertaining was the “throwed rolls” as they call it. This is where a server comes out of the kitchen with a tray of hot dinner rolls fresh from the oven and tosses them to people who raise their hand, sometimes across the length of the large dining hall! It’s pretty entertaining! Then, there’s also the “fixins” where servers come around with free side dishes which ranged from fried okra to a chop suey type dish, home fries and other goodies, all free in addition to your meal. Great value for the money. We will seek this place out in our travels again!

Lots of fun! My husband always talked about Lambert’s from when he was younger and since we were in TN from PA, we decided to go there. I would highly recommend getting the pot roast and the white beans! The pass arounds are such a great idea to be able to try all of those extras! The sorghum and apple butter were tasty as well! He enjoyed his country fried steak which came in a massive skillet. Definitely a great experience!

Unique, country-style restaurant with all of your favorite southern meals. Go hungry! Catch and enjoy a huge, hot, delicious roll. Snack on some pass-around sides while waiting for your entree. And, they certainly won’t let you go thirsty!

This place is an icon. My son and I first stumbled upon the one in Foley, Alabama. I did not realize how close we were to one on our way to Columbia, Missouri. Made this to say, I had to take my husband so he could experience the same thing my son did.

The two locations are similar but different. The menus are similar but different. We went for lunch this time, but we had dinner in Alabama. We did not have a wait for lunch.

This is a place you go and eat one meal a day. By the time you have the very large portions of your entrée along with all the pass rounds that they bring to your table and of course, the famous throwed roles, you don’t want to eat again.

The food is very southern. You typically get an entrée with two sides. They serve fresh yeast rolls that were made in a muffin pan. Don’t worry they’ll throw them to you hot from the oven as many as you want. While you’re waiting for your food, they bring around fried okra. Once you get your mail, they’ll bring around tomatoes, skillet, potatoes, Black Eyed Peas, and other items.

The setting is very much like a Cracker Barrel on steroids.

Lambert’s Cafe in Sikeston, Missouri—the original Home of the Throwed Rolls—is an absolute must-visit roadside legend that’s been serving up Southern comfort food and unbeatable hospitality since 1942. This place isn’t just a meal; it’s a full-on experience that leaves you stuffed, smiling, and feeling like family. From the moment you pull up (expect a line, but it moves fast and it’s worth it), the energy is infectious. The star of the show? Those massive, hot-from-the-oven yeast rolls that servers literally throw across the room when you raise your hand—catch one (or three), slather it with apple butter or sorghum molasses, and you’ll understand the hype. But the real heart of Lambert’s is the incredible staff: they’re unbelievably hospitable and generous, constantly circling the dining room with “pass-arounds” like fried okra, macaroni and tomatoes, black-eyed peas, fried potatoes and onions, and more—all unlimited and free with your meal. They’ll keep coming back with refills, chatting warmly, making sure everyone’s happy, and treating you like an old friend. It’s that genuine Midwestern/Southern kindness that turns a good dinner into a memorable one.The portions are famously enormous: go for classics like the pork steak, chicken-fried steak, country ham, or hog jowl with sides (you get two, plus all those pass-arounds), and you’ll be taking leftovers home in their signature doggy bags. Everything’s fresh, hearty, home-style cooking—comfort food at its finest, washed down with endless sweet tea.If you’re road-tripping through Missouri or just craving a fun, feel-good dining adventure, detour to Lambert’s in Sikeston. It’s chaotic in the best way, delicious beyond words, and the staff’s generosity and warmth make it shine. 5 stars—come hungry, leave happy!

Lambert’s Cafe has been a family tradition for the last decade at least! Whenever we get a chance to travel through Sikeston, MO, this place a MUST STOP.

I typically order the catfish and all the fix-ins. Of course. I also order the jug of sweet tea, lots of it. Their rolls are my favorite! This place is nostalgic and special.

I always look forward to the moments our family comes together for a nice meal here. Until next time!

We’ve been here before and were excited to return.

Atmosphere was so fun. Staff are friendly and constantly offering sides. Food was great. We had the ham steak which was huge, juicy and delicious. Paired it with baked beans, green beans and corn bread. We shared the dinner and still took half with us. So fun to watch rolls being thrown. Rolls were hot and delicious.

We shared off one plate. Just know, if you ask for a separate plate, there is a $13 fee.

Will definitely come here again when we are in the area.

We’ve seen videos of this place for years and were so excited when we randomly saw their billboard on a family trip. We pulled in at 10:02, only two minutes after they opened, and the parking lot was nearly full and only 4 tables were still open. Within 10 minutes they had a wait time for a table. Wild!

Is it worth the wait?

Absolutely, 100% it’s worth it. This is one of the most fun places we’ve ever eaten at and all of us loved it, the kids and adults. Rolls flying through the air, food constantly circling tables, fun staff, and great food in heaping portions that none of us could finish despite how much we enjoyed it.

Oh, and they have veteran parking, which I’m always grateful for.
