Gaia was awesome!! I started off with an order of money bags, which were amazing, crunchy and creamy. Then I got the cali crunch roll which was fun and delicious, and then I also got the hibachi chicken which came with onion soup, salad, fried rice, and roasted vegetables. It was a huge portion and full of savory teriyaki flavor. The dressing on the house salad was delightful as well. Overall great atmosphere, service, and food, can’t go wrong here!

First of all, for anyone coming for the AYCE sushi, I would call ahead of time to confirm what the price is. I was basing it off one of the most recent images and it has gone up almost $4 since the last update. As of 11-2025 it is now ~$32/person. While I understand why there would be a time limit, me and my brother were there at the time of opening and it took almost 45 minutes to even receive our first round, which is a decent amount of time considering the 1 hour 30 minute limit. The time it took to get the second round was equally long, so if you want to strategies and eat as much sushi as you can before you get full, I would just order as much as you can the first round. Remember that they charge for every piece left behind tho and won’t give you a box if you don’t finish. The server we had was very nice, but it seemed a bit understaffed to get served promptly. The sushi itself was okay. Honestly, I dont think the ratio of quality to affordability really matched up. I think Moriki is still the better place for sushi, but the staff seemed nice and the sushi was okay.

I’ve eaten sushi from San Francisco to Miami from your everyday $5 budget roll to the $40/piece of Las Vegas priced sashimi…this place surprisingly had some of the freshest sashimi and delectable rolls for a reasonable price. Don’t hesitate to stop in and dont skip the Ninja Fruit Roll to cleanse the palate!

I ordered the avocado salad, avocado bomb, salmon nigiria, Very Berry Roll, Hokie Roll, and On Fire Roll. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. The presentation of the avocado bomb and On Fire Roll was especially impressive. Everything was extremely fresh.
This place is a great choice if you’re looking for quality sushi, great service, and a nice vibe. I definitely plan to be back.

Great menu with a wide variety of choices. Excellent, fresh fish, expertly prepared. Temura was perfectly battered. Food presentation was gorgeous and really set this place apart. The decor weaves traditional Asian elements with the building’s historic features. Our server was fantastic – friendly, attentive, personable, great sense of humor and willingness to provide answers to all our questions without ever seeming like he would rather be doing something else. He made us feel like we were the most important customers he had; it’s hard to find service like that these days, and it was greatly appreciated. The restaurant was not very busy when we dined there; I hope more people discover it and share it with friends, so it can go on exceeding expectations for years. Highly recommended.

Gaia Sushi has an amazing laid back and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. I ordered the onion soup and the On Fire Roll and both were absolutely delicious. I have eaten at dozens of sushi restaurants and this one stands out as the best. I am originally from Texas and visited the area recently. We ended up eating here three days in a row because it was just that good. If you love sushi, Gaia Sushi is a spot you do not want to miss. Highly recommend.

Great food that comes with a beautiful atmosphere of a restaurant. Their improvements since first opening in Lawrence have been astronomical. Their yum yum sauce is “YUM YUM” . The all you can eat option at lunch is the best deal for some of the best sushi in Lawrence.

We had a nice lunch here with family and really enjoyed it. Staff were friendly and helpful. Sushi was great, a good variety. We also had their Chicken Katsu bento box, most of it was nice but the sauce was a bbq sauce and definitely not the proper curry sauce that should have been with a Katsu Curry. Overall we enjoyed our lunch and would try again.
