This is a fun must-stop in Aruba. Food was good and my bar tab for a couple of hours of drinking and eating was incredibly inexpensive. Charlie is a non-stop source of stories and tales and literally stand there talking the entire time. Whether to you or somebody else the entire time, he’s behind the bar. The look of the place itself is amazing and the only thing I can think of to compare it to is crazy country club in Brooklyn years ago, but even that doesn’t do it justice. If you’re in Aruba just go at least once and sit at the bar and I’m at people from all over the place.

What a wonderful place! No where else on the island did we feel “at home” as we did at Charlie’s bar. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff and amazing food. Raul, John, Charlie III…very welcoming, funny and so much knowledge of the island. Now, this is a business. It is not there simply for your photo op. So if you want to experience this at it’s best, go inside, order a drink, have a seat and introduce yourself. Look around and ask questions. If drinking isn’t your thing, they have a great selection of entrees as well as appetizers (apps are not on the menu so ask). I can’t wait to see you all again!!!

What a fun place! Great food and their own “special” sauce if you like spice. We ate so much that we hurt! Not a bad thing on the menu. Limited drink menu. Absolutely worth going here. Take something to leave on the wall!

Not safe, not worth it. Was recommended to view this place by a local tour guide and the tourism office lady nearby. I asked both people if it’s safe to go to this part of town as a solo female and they both said yes. The walk was about 5 minutes from the main tourism office and within that 5 minutes, 3 separate men walking by+ countless drivers catcalled me or made unnecessary comments/noises at me. Once I got to the bar a man waiting outside asked if I was eating or drinking and I said “drinking” and he let me in. I stepped into Charlie’s and noticed all the police badges on the wall and wanted to take a picture but as I was doing so, the man from outside came in and said “focus less on pictures and more on getting a drink”. Why so rude? I already said I was going to have a drink people come here to take pictures, no? I asked the bar if they’ll accept a card as payment and they said only on orders over $25. I promptly walked out of there with no intention of returning. Do NOT go to this part of town alone especially as a female. This all happened in broad daylight so I can only imagine how bad it is at nighttime. Not worth the visit or the questionable safety at all. Also not worth the random rudeness from the man outside who was clearly running some kind of security for the place.

Charlie’s Bar was such a fun and memorable stop on our trip. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, with fantastic live steel drum music setting the tone for the night. The food was incredible—especially the coconut shrimp and fresh ceviche, which were both standouts.
On top of it all, the name made the experience even more personal and special since my dad’s name is Charlie. It felt like a perfect connection and added an extra layer of meaning to an already unforgettable evening.

This was hands down the best food and experience we had in Aruba.
Called ahead to get reservations, they weren’t needed for just the 2 of us but they still took my name and when we arrived I just gave my name to the greeter outside and he showed us to our table without even looking at a list.
Our waiter rubbed me a little about scaring his reservation person, all in good fun.
Charlies has their own way doing things and you should go along for the ride.
Our server was excellent. Provided us with the daily specials and the apps they had that day.
Beverages were brought quickly. When he noticed he had grabbed a Balashi instead of a Heineken like we ordered he immediately replaced it.
The food was excellent and the timing of the dishes was spot on. It wasn’t real busy but they seem to run a tight ship so I would expect it to be the same even if packed.
We had the tuna and the grouper
specials with the added shrimp on top. That with fries, rice and side salads was enough to hold us through to a late light dinner.
We would definitely return!

Excellent neighborhood bar. It’s been there for many years. Eclectic decor. It’s like a trip back in time. Full bar. Local beers. Fun and friendly customer service. Great menu too. Local caught fish/seafood items too! The conch fritters were outstanding. Definitely stop by if you are in the area.

Lovely restaurant in the heart of San Nicolas. A staple. Great food and awesome service. Come for the food. Stay for the ornaments. The interior is full of pictures plates , souvenirs left by previous visitors.

Truly a weird experience. Walked in the door to get drinks and we were told that we couldn’t be seated. We were directed to the bar and then redirected to a table. 6 of us were put around a 4 seater. The bar tender was very rude. The drinks were cold. The photos on the tables were interesting. The saxophone player was good. We were very excited to visit this landmark, but would truly tell you to not waste your time. We’ve never had so much of an issue getting a seat or a drink in an empty bar.
