Decided to try Pizza Mill for the first time after hearing some good things from coworkers. Sadly disappointed. Ordered over the phone, Garbage barge (no olives) and a garlic bread with cheese, and then picked up at their drive up window. Got home and realized the garlic bread with cheese was 3 small-medium pieces of toast with garlic butter and a tiny sprinkle of mozz. That costs $6.75? That’s $2.25 per piece…absolutely not worth it. Then opened the pizza to find it covered in olives. Headed back to the restaurant to get it fixed. Was greeted quickly and I explained the issue with the pizza. The gentleman reviews my ticket and says that whoever took the order didn’t write “no olives” but they could remake it, although it would take about 20 mins. They were busy and there’s a lot of toppings on the pizza so 20 mins was reasonable. Decided to wait it out because we really wanted to try this place. I then brought up the issue with the garlic bread and asked if this is how they normally make it, with only a tiny bit of cheese and the gentleman helping me simply refunded the $6.75 in cash (did not refund the tax but whatever, it’s like 67¢). You could tell he was frustrated, but i get it (i guess?). I took my cash and went and waited for my remake pizza. Bought a fountain drink for $2.50 while I waited. Saw a bunch of food come out while I waited and none of it was pizza (mostly sandwiches it seemed). Was curious why no one was getting the pizza but I soon figured out why. Got my pizza in like 18 mins. The guy who brought it out apologized because he’s the one who took the order and I explained it was fine and things happen, we were just excited to try this place. Got home and dug in…Pizza was mediocre at best. With so many different toppings I’m not sure how it tasted so bland. Everything just fell flat when it came to flavor and freshness. Basically just saltiness from the meat and a crunch from the crust. You can also tell they were in a rush to remake it and get it out of the oven, probably could’ve used another 3-5 mins baking to finish off the toppings. Or maybe throw it in a broiler to finish off so you don’t over cook the crust? The crust was decent, very crispy and cracker like, and was basically the only good thing about this. But man…for a $25 medium pizza this was sad. Maybe a simple pepperoni would be better…still not sure as the sauce lacked flavor and the cheese was barely enough to cover the pizza (see photo for all the open red spots across the pizza where there’s no cheese). Unfortunate experience at a small town pizza joint that we were very excited to try. Will try out somewhere else and won’t be back here any time soon unless they revamp the menu.
So even though I’m posting this so late I wanted to let him know that we much appreciated it or we would’ve missed out on this amazing dinner!
Customer service was very good and quick.
It was very quiet and not noisy at all.
Served four 16″ pies fairly quickly.
