Doordashed it and the food was really good but, kinda pricey which is what to expect in sandiego. Overall really good and wish more yum yum sauce was offered. Would definitely order again but, add and extra side of vegetables. Plenty of rice though.

We had a wonderful experience here yesterday! The portions are huge, our food was DELICIOUS, and the staff was so kind to us. My fiance said the filet was some of the best he’s had. The rice was to DIE for. Highly recommend!!

The food here is very good. I get it everytime I’m in San Diego, order ahead of time because the wait at night could take forever. But the food makes it worth it. I’d also rather eat the somewhere else. The dining area is very dull. But the food is what really matters. Order a head of time and it’ll make the difference. It’s also pretty pricey but to me the food is worth it 100%

I should’ve trusted the recent reviews. This hibachi spot said it was open, but when we arrived they made us wait 30 minutes just for the cooks to show up. Once they finally arrived, it took another 30 minutes before our food was ready.
I ordered the chicken and filet mignon with fried rice ($42), and honestly it was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had in San Diego. The chicken was rubbery and dry, the steak had no flavor, and the fried rice was so salty it was inedible. I couldn’t even finish it.
For the price and time wasted, this place is absolutely not worth it. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant at all costs. Terrible service, terrible food, and a complete disappointment.

This review should be 3.5 Stars but I’m feeling generous. I also genuinely hope this review is helpful to the owners of the establishment.

We paid $47 after tip for the photo of food you see. Shrimp + Steak Combination plus an upgrade to fried rice + tip. I initially felt like we got ripped off but in the end it was more than enough food for 2 people.

We walked in and there was zero signage or instructions on what to do.
There was an employee working behind a register who was definitely not happy that ANYONE was there. There were two chefs behind windows. We found a paper menu on a table near the unhappy register employee and decided to try and order. I got zero smile or response after ordering and paid the 47 dollars. The employee handed us a handwritten ticket and didn’t say anything. I asked how long and she said about 20 minutes.

During the 20 minutes of waiting we saw at least two groups come in and immediately leave as they were probably just confused or they saw the prices.

That said we got our food and took it to go. This isn’t the place you’d want to eat or hang out in. No alcohol or anything that is inviting or would make someone want to hang out. After we got home we divided up the food and it was honestly really really delicious. Steak was super tender very high quality, Shrimp were decent sized, cooked perfectly and just delicious. The chicken fried rice good but not much chicken.

I think this place needs to take one of the many blank video/tv screens and display the menu or instructions or at least something useful. There was a very strange rap video playing which was just confusing and you couldn’t hear any numbers being called. An idea would be to have the order #’s being completed available on screen so folks know what to do. Food was really good. Since living in SD i’ve known at least 4 different establishments in this location and none have made it. I hope this one is different as it could be something.

Bottom line is this is very high quality food in a very low quality setting. I’m not sure what to think but in the end it’s totally fine for take out.

A little on the pricey side, but the food is delicious. They grill your choice of meats alongside fried rice and veggies. I got the New York steak, lobster, shrimp, and scallops on the side. Great place to go after a night of drinking on the town as the carbohydrates will absorb all the alchohol; convenient it is located across from a bar. It is also conveniently open til 2 am on the weekends. They ran out of filet mignon both times I’ve been there late at night, but the food is delicious and the portion size is decent too. One box can have 2 servings in it.

I ordered my food expecting it to be prepared properly, like any functioning restaurant should manage. But no. The rice shows up plain white, not a drop of the sauce I specifically requested. Then comes the real horror. The shrimp and chicken were literally undercooked. As in, dangerously raw. What kind of kitchen is serving raw seafood and poultry to customers? That’s not just lazy, that’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. Since I was starving and trusted the label that said it was “ready to eat,” I had to COOK the damn food myself, food that should’ve come fully cooked. After eating, I went to bed thinking that was the end of the nightmare. Wrong. I woke up in actual hell. My stomach felt like it was being clenched in a vice grip. I was drenched in sweat, felt like puking my guts out, and I had the overwhelming urge to sprint to the bathroom every 10 seconds, even when there was nothing left to give. It got so bad, I had to strip down in the car literally becoming shirtless and just in boxers like I was being exorcised. This wasn’t just food poisoning, this was a biohazard. I’ve spent the entire day weak, hot, nauseous, and in constant pain. This place served me something that belongs in a medical waste bin, not a takeout box. Shut. Them. Down. For public health. For humanity. For me.

**Awful Experience at Besthibachi**

I had the most disappointing experience with Besthibachi. I ordered through UberEats and waited over an hour for my food, which is completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, I tried calling the restaurant multiple times, but they didn’t respond at all.

When my order finally arrived, I discovered they had forgotten an entire item—the Chicken Plate with garlic sauce. How can a restaurant mess up an order so badly?

This experience has been frustrating, and I now understand why there are so many negative reviews. Don’t be fooled by the false positive reviews on UberEats; I certainly won’t be ordering from Besthibachi again. Save your time and money and choose a restaurant that values its customers!

This is the second time I’ve ordered food from this place, and it’s been disappointing both times. I would not recommend ordering or dining here. They didn’t have the yum yum sauce, which is understandable, but they didn’t offer any alternative sauces or compensation.

Moreover, this is the second time they’ve told me the food would be ready in 20 minutes, yet when I arrived 30 minutes later, it still wasn’t done. When I asked to speak to a manager, only the cashier and chef were present, and the restaurant was empty.

When this place first opened, the service was quick, the staff was polite, and the portions were great. Unfortunately, it has declined significantly since then. The staff seems indifferent, and the potential this place had initially is fading. Don’t waste your time or money here. I will not be returning.

***Update: After eating the food from this restaurant, both my husband and I became very sick. My son didn’t eat this food, so we know it was from the restaurant. We experienced severe stomach cramps and had to rush to the toilet frequently. It was a terrible experience, and I felt extremely unwell. Due to this, we will not be returning to this restaurant. I’m exhausted from the constant trips to the bathroom and barely got an hour of sleep. This is not normal, and I believe the health inspector should be called to investigate. Avoid eating here.
