Ordered the black bean noodles (Jajangmyeon) and their mandoo 4 piece special ($6) that they offered on the menu.
Service was fast, food was hot. Food looked much better than how it tasted. Problem was the noodles wasnt drained all the way so mixing up the noodles with the sauce it was too watery on the bottom and lacked any taste whatsoever
The 4 piece mandoo was fried and tiny, looked like those frozen gyozas you buy at Don Quiote, not handmade. Tiny and did not have any chives at all. * not recommended* Probably wont return here at all… For $24 was definitely not worth it… 2 stars.
How was the food?
It felt like someone who has never eaten jjajangmyeon tried to make jjajangmyeon, and someone who doesn’t know tteokbokki tried to make tteokbokki.
The jjajangmyeon tasted like they boiled kalguksu noodles you’d buy at H Mart and just mixed sauce into them. And in my entire life, I’ve never ordered jjajangmyeon and not been given pickled radish on the side.
As for the tteokbokki—not a single piece of fish cake in sight.
While eating the jjajangmyeon, my son looked at me and said,
“Mom, even if you made this with your foot, it would still taste better.”
Stop by and have some lunch, there are a few eateries in here and a small bar. So there is something for everyone.
Update: we stopped by for a quick bite on New Year’s Day. It was closing, but the chef let us make a last order. I tried the meat jeon. It was very thin and tender, better than the ones I had before.
I do love that they have an automated speaker that tells you what restaurant and order number is currently ready for pickup. Also love the $5 mandoo addition to menu orders!
The cashier is very thoughtful and food is quick even though it is made fresh after you order. They even take the food to your table when it’s not busy.
This time around I got the spicy squid with rice and an order of the seafood pancake on the side. The spicy-ness level was good, mind you I can’t take spicy, but with the squid and veggies I thought it was delicious. The ratio to squid and veggies was 60/40 which is pretty good I think, considering I got the dish for the squid. Seafood pancake was fluffy and savory. This was our second time ordering this dish and it’s consistent with portion/size and outcome. If you like Korean seafood pancakes order this one.
Don’t skip out of the Food Hall guys. There are so many good food finds here.
Today we did. We selected Elim Korean Restaurant and were very pleasantly surprised! The Korean ramen & udon dishes we had were excellent!!
The Elim cashier/server was very friendly & checked with us while we were dining & after we’d finished to make sure everything was O.K.! Wow! Excellent service we’re not used to getting here in Hawaii!!
The food court was very clean as well.
We’ll definitely be back!!!
I highly recommend!
