I decided to try Taco Time Cantina shortly after they opened. I met one of the owners. I think his name is Dino. He and his team were extremely friendly. I tried four different tacos for lunch. In terms of the quality of the tacos and their flavor the only thing I can think of is an analogy to a movie that came out many many years ago called Ratatouille. If you saw the movie, I’m sure you remember the scene where the food critic takes one little bite of the ratatouille that they serve him and he is mentally transported to his childhood when he used to enjoy the ratatouille his mom used to cook. For me, it was a similar experience, except I was mentally transported to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where I had excellent tacos like the ones at Taco Time. The ingredients are super fresh, high-quality and generous. The tortillas are made there from blue corn. The salsa bar is fantastic. Everything is reasonably priced. I would strongly recommend this place for tacos, burritos and other dishes that they have. I’ve been going there regularly now and everything they have is excellent. In my opinion, it is the best taco place in all of San Diego.

We ordered 2 filet mignon tacos, 1 baja fish, 1 carne asada. All were good! Filet mignon tacos are $$ but I think worth it- the meat is nicely seasoned and cooked. Also the tacos were very filling. I would recommend the Baja fish taco the most for price and quality.

I popped in to Taco Time for my very first visit on Tuesday at about 1 pm. There was no line and I was greeted immediately. I ordered two chicken and one Baja fish taco. I ordered them to go because I was on a time schedule. They were ready quickly and I picked up some of the mango salsa to take as well. The to go container was sturdy and in a paper bag. Napkins, salsa and utensils were available to take as well.
Man oh man was I so happy that the chefs really know their business! These were some of the best tacos I have had in ages. They were fresh, loaded with chicken and fish (respectively) and absolutely delicious. And that mango salsa had a great kick that was perfect!
In addition to all that, the whole meal was about 9 bucks because it was Taco Tuesday!
Do yourself a favor and visit Taco Time on Fay Ave. You won’t be disappointed!!!

Extremely delicious tacos, you’ve got to try the birria quesadilla. Just have in mind that the quesadillas are big! The carne asada tacos are top notch. The store is very well kept, and its ambientation is beautiful.

We found a parking spot nearby and this was the closest restaurant and we were starving – plus it was near noon on a Saturday. We were able to walk right up to order, no line – awesome. I ordered the Filet Minion Taco and my wife got the Chicken Taco. It was unclear how many tacos were included as it didn’t specify on the menu…but it was one FM Taco for $9.99. Kinda steep, but it was a good Taco – handmade blue corn tortilla and well seasoned Filet. The only odd thing was the service – as we were getting up from a table outside (not even in their patio) the lady that rang us up was delivering an order – she tells us to clean up our table and throw away our trash….We barely stood and we always take care of our own trash. Such a snotty attitude. Great food, but questionable service

Omg this place was incredible. We came
Here two days in a row and both experiences were next level good. We tried a lot of the tacos off the menu and they were all 10/10. So full of flavour and bursting with fresh, quality ingredients. The Birria and the fish were both real standouts but I think you actually can’t go wrong. The staff on both days were also so amazing. Really really friendly and helpful. The girl who served us on the first night especially went out of her way to help us find something that fit with dietary needs which is so often challenging in restaurants so we appreciated that a great deal. The restaurant and outdoor dining area are both also so nice. I know there’s a lot to choose from for Mexican in San Diego and we are by no means experts coming from Australia but this place knocked our socks off and we did meet a local who said he rates it as he of his two favourites in San Diego as well so if you don’t trust tourists, the locals seem to agree.

Atmosphere is cozy. Went in January. They had outdoor heaters and covered tables, which made the experience perfect. We ordered the nachos (DELICIOUS!). A lot of food! Perfect for two people. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Ordered original nachos- everything on the side do they don’t get soggy. Opened my container to find crispy burned chips and what’s left of i think cheese- not cool. Very disappointed in this presentation of food.

Best authentic Mexican food around town! Excellent service and nice, cozy atmosphere!
Our food was absolutely delicious! The flavor, the serving sizes, hot sauces, everything was so good! Plus, they don’t use any seed oils and have organic tortillas and wild caught mahi mahi. The girl who helped us was super helpful and welcoming. Highly recommend! It’s our new favorite place!
