Nara exceeded our expectations once again, with its impressive menu selection and delicious options to cater to all tastes. The ramen was a highlight, with the Black Garlic Ramen and Spicy Beef being particular favorites. The sushi was also impressive, with fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked rice. The Pork Sticky Buns were another standout, offering a delightful combination of flavors. We’re eager to return to Nara on our future visits.

Well, I’d say it’s worth a visit. Overall, 3-4 stars is what my table would agree on.

Surprisingly, zero garlic in their all-star garlic Ramen dish – 2 of us couldn’t detect any garlic flavor at all, and we LOVE garlic!
Disappointing.

Their creme Brule drink…. none of the flavors detected except cinnamon and bitterness. Weird. We threw it out after one sip.

Fantastic mocktail was created for us! Waitress was so nice. I’d just recommend clearing empty dishes.

My elderly mother was startled a few times as chairs were moved around quickly as tables were bussed-acoustics were loud. Metal chairs on cement floor, I believe.

Overall, the food and the one drink we ordered lacked flavor. I suspect it depends on who’s working the kitchen.

It was ok. We won’t be back, but we’re glad we went – overall, more positive experience than negative!

one of the best ramen options for the Boise area. staff was nice and helpful despite being busy. we liked the chicken karage as a good appetizer. the tonkotsu broth was good but chashu was thin and overcooked for our tastes. marinated eggs were good and a nice soft texture. the spicy beef ramen was more of a fusion ramen with cilantro and lime, interesting! they do have shichimi but you have to ask.

The Cheney girls plus Freddy are going on a biking adventure. They decide they want some lunch and stop by a cozy place called Nara Ramen as they go in everyone is super welcoming and it’s so nice there are cats waving at you everywhere, as you sit down
you immediately get the nicest lady to take your order and help you figure out good food for the kids and tell you what’s good there. The wait for the food was not long. And it was so good! we ate every last bite.(We got seconds)As we left we were so sad to go. Everyone was so kind there and everyone around us seemed to love it there too. I highly recommend Nara Ramen.

What an amazing place for our first experience at a Ramen restaurant! We both had the Black Garlic bowl and I was able to remove unwanted toppings as well as add extra to my liking. We are MAJOR garlic consumers, so neither I or my mom were able to detect any hint of garlic flavor but we are very much looking forward to going back as the flavor profile was unbelievably satisfying (we will just be requesting extra EXTRA garlic next time lol)

I traveled from out-of-state, and my friend recommended this place. The three of us enjoyed eating the lunch I particularly liked the Tropical roll, the Volcano roll (spicy), Glacier roll, and the Firecracker roll (spicy). For starters we got the pork bun and Harumaki- those were also very delicious, and you can’t go wrong with either appetizer. All in all I was very impressed with our meal!

Good food and great service are the highlights of the place. Saturday afternoon as fairly busy, but got the table and food rather fast. Ordered Gyzo, spicy Ramen, kids Ramen, California roll and spicy tuna roll and a lemon boba tea.
The waitress was extremely helpful and patient and offered to make kids chopsticks for our kid.
Reason for giving 1 less star is because the the kids ramen was a little too salty and the boba was a big hard.
Spicy ramen and Sushi was amazing, both flavor and texture.

Food was ok, hot and fast service. However the restrooms were filthy both mens and woman’s. The front door was filthy. Worst of all when leaving the Sushi chef was on his cell phone at the prep area. Gloves or not that is disturbing. Makes you wonder what the kitchen is like. Will not be back.

Authentic? Mayby. Taste good? Absolutely!
Cute spot that can be super busy or relatively empty (in the same evening).

Staff is super helpful and nice. Many people to help and easy to get more of something of needed.
NOTE: If you are on a wait list expecting a text/call – it may come from a personal cell number of an employee. I got a call from a California number, I’m just glad I answered it…

Appetizers/drinks:
– Many drinks for all ages. The hot sake is always a treat.
– Ikageso Karaage – fried calamari was tasty with a lemony dipping sauce
– Harakumi – deep fried spring rolls were ok, a little strange and soggy filling.
– Wakame Salad – seaweed salad is delicious

Ramen:
Flavors are fine, noodles felt over cooked and meat was ok. I would not kick it off my table… I’ll have to come back to see if flavors are different.
Spice level can be nice. Do not expect to be blown away by 3 chiles out of 5. If hyoue like spicy might start a little higher.

Ultimately, the experience was pretty good, service is great. Was the price after several appetizers and four people eating with some drinks? We were right around $100 before a tip.

Check it out for sure. If you don’t live on this side of town, they do have a location on the other side of Boise.

VERDICT: Ramen was pretty good. I would recommend the black garlic tonkatsu with a draft Sapporo if you’re in the area, with a couple of simple changes that could be made by management today at no cost.

FOOD: The ramen was good. The soy sauce & miso marinated soft boiled egg was a delightful accent as well as the al denté bamboo chutes. I like that the black garlic tonkatsu comes with grilled pork instead of pork belly. (I find expertly cooked pork belly is an evasive find at reasonably-priced restaurants.) Of the two ramens tasted, the tonkatsu was good, though a touch light on richness and salt for my preferences. The black garlic tonatsu had deeper richness lent by the black garlic, and a slight hit of soy sauce proved quite delicious. SUGGESTIONS: Serve the broth at a higher temperature. This will help bring the flavor out more strongly. I’m guessing our broth was hovering around the threshold of food safety (140°F) but, in my opinion, should be closer to 200°F (think drip coffee temp).

SERVICE: The service was a little slow. We were sat fairly promptly, but the waiter didn’t reach us for a while. With a vase pitcher on the table, our water was always full. This was good. Our bowls arrived sticky on the sides. I know this is just the broth from handling the bowl, but SUGGESTION: wipe the bowl down before service.

ATMOSPHERE: Quiet vibe with brightly stained woods and decor. Perfect, in my opinion.
