Appetizer Enoki tempura fritter was ok, crispy, but very bulky and hard to cut. The sauce was interesting. It took so long to come though. Sword fish was a bit on the dry side, but their sauce was tasty so it’s still considered great. Lamb kofta is fine, no complaints. Masala chicken breast was moist but the sauce didn’t go too well. Generally, it’s not bad. But for the price, it was a bit disappointing. In addition, it feels like the servers were trying to rush us, so we felt like we needed to leave quickly

First of all really impressed given it is a museum restaurant at a popular tourist destination. It got busy in the first 30 minutes after it opened for a reason. We got the salad with beets pears pistachio and watercress. One of the top kind. The egg noodle dish was a very good fusion as well. The masala chicken breast was okay. Sometimes the lemon flavor can come too strong but the meat was tender and the beans were the right texture as well. Overall highly recommended as a lunch spot in between museums!

We wanted to try this place for a long time but we only had several times drink at here before. Mingei is my favorite museum in SD and a restaurant at here, it is gonna be good! Plus their drinks are pretty nice as I remember. And yes, I’ll say here’s food is worthy to try. We ordered a Vietnamese pork meatball and a choripan burger, they are all fusion style food, which I like – A lot of different culture inspired cuisine. Meatball is flavorful and burger is juicy and tender. I would like more Vietnamese flavor in the meatball like fish sauce I guess, now I feel the Vietnamese flavor is not enough. The service is nice and the atmosphere is great. I’ll definitely recommend you come to try.

Despite its stark open-concept design in the Mingei Museum’s lobby, there is something that feels classy about this space. Whether it is the patrons it attracts, the friendly service, the thoughtful decor, the comfy couch booths, or the interesting menu. I was able to walk in for lunch on a Tuesday, and had the desert flower cocktail, the Vietnamese meatball lettuce wrap “snack,” and the dan dan noodles. The drink was nice and strong, I would give the meatballs a 5/5 and the noodles a 4/5. Something was a bit overpowering but I can’t put my finger on it. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but I think Artifact delivers on its price point.

I got the lamb cofta without the flatbread to make it gluten free. It was delicious!! It was such a beautiful location in the park. Could even hear live organ music from the park. Loved eating on the patio. The food was so flavorful.

Entrees were good, but really strong flavors – wasn’t easy to finish the dishes for that reason. The cocktails were great, and the salad was great. Menu is creative and interesting. Worth a try for sure, the location (museum) is pretty cool!

Special restaurant in Balboa Park! The menu is international and provisions are locally sourced. Kelly is an excellent server and bartender! Cocktails are creative! The wine list is deep and well curated. It’s truly a memorable meal…for any occasion.

Note to self: don’t eat here.
The Vietnamese meatball was incredible (actually) and drinks were awesome too. But the mains were not good at all. We left the noodles almost untouched.

Artifact at the Mingei Museum completely exceeded our expectations! We came in planning to share a single dessert, but the cheesecake was so incredibly good, we immediately ordered a second one—absolutely worth it.

The meat dish we had was also perfectly cooked and full of flavor, beautifully plated and just as delicious as it looked.

The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed, and the service was warm and attentive. A fantastic dining experience inside a stunning museum setting.

Five stars without a doubt—can’t wait to come back!
