Great concept. Teaching young people business skills, food prep customer service is a nice selection of woodworking crafts for sale that they’ve made plants, vegetables and not just coffee. Cinnamon rolls are delicious. The coffee is tasty And hot. Prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend coming here, not just for the quality food, ample parking and lots of seating with big windows but to actually support youth in getting away from wrong choices and encouraging positive choices.

I don’t even want to post this review, because I’m pretty sure this place is actually the best kept secret in Salem. Fresh made food with fresh ingredients, and cheaper compared to fast food and definitely compared to “healthy” fast food places. They also sell random produce at good prices, grown on site or next door by the master gardeners, but who knows what produce they’ll have because it’s whatever was ripe this morning! Love the people, the food, and everything about this place.

Fresh start has amazing prices on fresh produce grown on-site through the juvenile program.
Their plants and arts and crafts made by the youth are pretty amazing too.

Stopped here on a roadtrip and was incredibly impressed by the cheap prices for such good quality food and coffee! Service was very friendly and quick; my boyfriend’s burrito was delivered steaming hot so we knew it was fresh! Easily the biggest selection of drink flavors too, I had the Amaretto added to my dirty chai latte and it was delicious.
Really enjoyed browsing the handcrafted wood products and will absolutely be returning to furnish my kitchen with some of their coasters and cutting boards in the future (again- great prices for such beautiful work!)
I wish I could’ve left a tip when I paid with my card (they have a cash tip box however), which just goes to show how satisfied I was with the service.

Love this little place. Great deal on blueberries and some other veggies when they’re in stock! Also good deals on pepper and tomato plants. Very friendly staff! Great concept. I hope to come by often!
