Located along beautiful Chimney Creek on Tybee Island, The Original Crab Shack isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an unforgettable experience. We serve up a perfect mix of seafood and smoky BBQ, offering steamed, boiled, and raw shellfish alongside BBQ classics like pulled pork, brisket, ribs, and chicken. Families are welcome, with a special kids’ menu for those 10 and under! There’s something for everyone here. With seating for over 700, guests can enjoy three full-service bars with views of the creek. Our famous “Gator Lagoon” is home to live baby alligators, offering an interactive, educational experience for all ages. Wander over to meet our exotic rescued birds, or stop by our Gift Shack for unique souvenirs to take home.

The restaurant that night is beautiful. We was seated very quickly. The service was very good and the food came out fast. Me and my wife had the Low Country broil and both would say 6/10. The season was coming off due to the fact that there was water on the bottom of the trays. The Deviled Crab was a 8/10 it was really good. We loved seeing the animals and visiting the gift shop.

The Crab Shack is highly reviewed for their atmosphere and good seafood and it was exactly what we hoped for. The 2 person platter was piled high and way too much food for the 2 of us, which was unexpected in the best way. The presentation, service, and atmosphere were out of this world. We loved the set up and getting to sit outside on the deck with heaters even in February. We are used to Louisiana boils where everything is super seasoned. This wasn’t quite there on seasoning but it was really good and let you taste the flavors of the seafood. The deviled crabs were really good and the baby gators outside and decorations were very fun! Our waitress was excellent too.

We arrive about 20 mins after they opened on a Monday. There was plenty of parking and we were seated fairly quickly. Outdoor seating with a beautiful view of the water. We were there for a seafood boil, and it did not disappoint. There was plenty of snow crab legs with boiled potatoes, corn on the cob, and cole slaw. It was all seasoned well. The bucket in the middle of the table helped with keeping the area clean. Our server was friendly and efficient. He checked up on several times to ensure everything was ok. It was a nice casual dining spot before heading to the island for the afternoon.

Servers were fantastic, attentive but not over the top. The atmosphere was welcoming, unique, laid back, nothing fancy here and that’s what I loved. Nope for the food, I was not impressed. The slaw tasted like vinegar. I couldn’t stand the BBQ sauce, a little something added to a lot of mustard. I guess the pork was okay if you like it with no sauce.
The outside is like nothing I’ve ever seen, very beachy, cluttered but it works. The alligator lagoon was interesting. The outside is worth the trip even if you don’t eat.

The Crab Shack in Tybee Island is the best one to me and my family. Sometimes we just ride 2 hours just to get some food. The food is delicious; the vibe is so nice; the service is good. The only thing I didn’t like about the last time we visited was the waiter put in a 30% tip but I caught it and put 20% which was least. I tip 10% but there was no way for me to customize it. I will bring cash next time.

Our server was not very friendly but literally everyone else here was from hosts to the gift shop. The dessert and pork was good. Shrimp and deviled crab was good not great. But what was most enjoyable was the ambiance on the patio and the gator exhibit and aviary. The patio outdoor seating was amazing! Definitely coming back!

The atmosphere and location were great. We wanted to try the blue crab, but learned that it was out of season (gotta go during fall months). So instead, we got the snow crab, which was well cooked and delicious.
The service at the bar was a little bit slow, but it also seemed like the one bartender was getting swamped with all these valentines day cocktails, so I get it.

Great experience with gator feeding and bird shack, dining outside by the water was amazing! The seafood was pricey but huge portions, very quick service. BBQ platter was massive, nice touch with trash cans in center of table.
