Beautiful restaurant inside. Easy to get seated. Staff is friendly and professional. We took a walk around the historic neighborhood while we waited for the food.

We had the dog with us outside and they brought him some water.

The crab dip was amazing. The other dishes were amazing.

Unfortunately, they were out of their lobster mac & cheese. It sounds popular, so if I had the chance to go there again I would get this.

Shocked. The place is 5 star completely. Had the bison steak and got to visit the hidden bar! Don’t forget to ask about it !! Jeremy is the manager that will come around to visit at the end of your meal and one of an amazing place. We are world travelers and have been pleasantly shocked to find this place. Higher end with expectations exceeded. !! Thank you Tegan for great service and the hidden bar tour !!!

What a gem in Cañon City! The 1887 Historic Eatery, nestled inside the beautifully restored Hotel St. Cloud, perfectly blends frontier charm with modern elegance. The decor is absolutely stunning—think expertly renovated historic details with warm lighting, stylish furnishings, and an inviting atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time while enjoying contemporary comfort. Everything was spotlessly clean, from the dining room to the restrooms.
I ordered the buffalo steak, and it arrived exactly as pictured tender, juicy, and cooked to absolute perfection (medium just how I requested). The flavor was rich and gamey in the best way, paired beautifully with the sides.
The only minor hiccup was the Brussels sprouts—they were delicious and crispy, but a tad too salty for my taste. Easy fix next time, though!
Overall, this is hands-down a must-visit when you’re in southern Colorado. Great service, fantastic food, and that historic vibe make it stand out. Highly recommend for a special dinner or date night!

Best tasting steak that we’ve had in a while! Love the ambience of the place!
Our only complaint was lots of dirty tables when you walk in but we understand that they may have been low on staff! Overall, we are glad we found this place after visiting the Royal gorge!

We stayed at the hotel the restaurant is connected to. I’ll admit with the quality of the hotel we were excited to eat here, and in all honesty it was a lot less exemplary than the hotel.

I ordered the rib eye medium rare and a side of Mac and Cheese, the other members of our party had the 10 oz prime rib with a side of scallop potatoes, shrimp scampi, and chicken piccata.

I would say all the food needed salt.

The drinks we ordered were very heavy pours and were a bit extra. We will be going back to the hotel and as we see better service at this restaurant we may try it again.

True Colorado history here! This is a must see for any history buffs or long time local or Native Colorado residents. This beautifully restored hotel and restaurant took a long 7 years to complete but it’s really exciting to finally see the finished product! My wife and I have been wanting for 7 years ironically to see what they would come up with and we were not disappointed in the least.
From the beautiful lobby to the very fun hidden Speakeasy (you will never find it without the free tour) but please try on your own first. The dining room is absolutely beautiful with incredible historical photos everywhere and for you book lovers, every book in the restaurant is 1st edition! The cutlery is divine to eat off of (I honestly almost stole mine) and the crockery is period correct. Our visit was a very fun, tasteful, visually delightful, historically revealing and very refreshing experience for us. We love all of our local eateries in Fremont County but we just experienced the crown jewel of them all. Please don’t miss this establishment in Canon City CO. when you either pass through or live here like I do, it’s absolutely not going to disappoint you. Our next venture at The 1887 is to rent a room for the weekend and relive (in present time) the rooms and accommodations or this Grand beautiful hotel that folks did back in the 1880’s.

It’s a beautiful old setting, staff is friendly and hospitable. I ordered the curry and I would say this dish doesn’t belong on the dinner menu, the flavors were great, but the presentation was poorly executed. It was served without a side or something to complement the dish, it was like eating hummus with nothing but your spoon. That’s why I ordered bread, unaware that is not complementary (be prepared to spend almost 2.50 PER dinner roll).
The peach dessert was divine; I really enjoyed it. I would go back for the atmosphere and dessert, but not for dinner.

My husband and I came in and had a beautiful breakfast on 02/01. Our server Craig was awesome. Attentive, fun energy and vibe. Talked with us about interesting local places to check out. It was pretty busy and he making sure everyone was doing well at their respective tables. The food was excellent. Huevos Rancheros was amazing. The atmosphere of the restaurant hotel is beautiful. Lots of historical photos. Would recommend this place to anyone interested in having a good time.

Fantastic experience! Excellent quality food from a list of incredibly unique menu options. For the historical and beautiful location, along with the large portion sizes, it was surprising to see such reasonable pricing as well. Service staff were helpful and kind, and the dining area had amazing atmosphere.

It is a beautiful building with incredible staff, unfortunately the food is just not flavorful at all. Calamari had no seasoning, the sauces were the saving grace of the appetizers and dinner. I did a 10oz prime rib, it was cooked to a perfect medium rare but no flavor. The au ju smelled and tasted like worcestershire sauce and that is it, it still added to the steak. The drinks they had also had no flavor other then the alcohol that was used. I won’t be going back for the food but the drinks in the war room are amazing! The staff is the shining star of this establishment, they even gave us a handwritten birthday card. Everyone should go once if you are interested, as everyone has a different palate.
