Reviews
We had the dog with us outside and they brought him some water.
The crab dip was amazing. The other dishes were amazing.
Unfortunately, they were out of their lobster mac & cheese. It sounds popular, so if I had the chance to go there again I would get this.
I ordered the buffalo steak, and it arrived exactly as pictured tender, juicy, and cooked to absolute perfection (medium just how I requested). The flavor was rich and gamey in the best way, paired beautifully with the sides.
The only minor hiccup was the Brussels sprouts—they were delicious and crispy, but a tad too salty for my taste. Easy fix next time, though!
Overall, this is hands-down a must-visit when you’re in southern Colorado. Great service, fantastic food, and that historic vibe make it stand out. Highly recommend for a special dinner or date night!
Our only complaint was lots of dirty tables when you walk in but we understand that they may have been low on staff! Overall, we are glad we found this place after visiting the Royal gorge!
I ordered the rib eye medium rare and a side of Mac and Cheese, the other members of our party had the 10 oz prime rib with a side of scallop potatoes, shrimp scampi, and chicken piccata.
I would say all the food needed salt.
The drinks we ordered were very heavy pours and were a bit extra. We will be going back to the hotel and as we see better service at this restaurant we may try it again.
From the beautiful lobby to the very fun hidden Speakeasy (you will never find it without the free tour) but please try on your own first. The dining room is absolutely beautiful with incredible historical photos everywhere and for you book lovers, every book in the restaurant is 1st edition! The cutlery is divine to eat off of (I honestly almost stole mine) and the crockery is period correct. Our visit was a very fun, tasteful, visually delightful, historically revealing and very refreshing experience for us. We love all of our local eateries in Fremont County but we just experienced the crown jewel of them all. Please don’t miss this establishment in Canon City CO. when you either pass through or live here like I do, it’s absolutely not going to disappoint you. Our next venture at The 1887 is to rent a room for the weekend and relive (in present time) the rooms and accommodations or this Grand beautiful hotel that folks did back in the 1880’s.
The peach dessert was divine; I really enjoyed it. I would go back for the atmosphere and dessert, but not for dinner.
