Then, on my birthday today, I finally found the place that fills the void.
The sauce is robust, the cheese is generous, and the crust is exactly what you want from a quality Chicago stuffed crust pizza. Hands down, it’s the best stuffed crust I’ve had in Illinois in over 10 years, and the price is better than Lou Malnati’s (bland) and Giordano’s (#2 stuffed crust in il IMO, but far away from my location).
Great value for the money, and the people here are genuinely nice. First visit, and now loyal customer now.
Located on Milwaukee ave, just south of Route 176 and across from Condell Hospital, this location offers lunch special for $13 (burger, fries, drink) freshly prepared or a two slices of pizza and a drink for $7, as a weekday special.
Choices of pizza will vary by day, but consult the menu in the website for ideas.
My cheeseburger and fries were freshly prepared and were enjoyable.
Finally, there are ice cream selections available, I did not save room for same, but maybe Next time???
To our surprise, there’s even a small ice cream shop inside! We ordered the two-slice deal, a large pizza, and a gluten-free cheese pizza. The thin crust was excellent—crispy and flavorful.
We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, John, who was super friendly and welcoming. We didn’t get to try the ice cream this time, but we definitely plan to on our next visit.
Highly recommended if you’re in the Libertyville area—thank you, John, for a great experience!
Absolutely and spectacularly clean. Spotless bathrooms, you can get your own drinks. We wanted a little gnosh after our doctor’s appointments. We noticed that Antioch pizza was open, and have not been there since the ownership had changed from a Giordano’s.
Had a nice conversation with the owner, John (Chandra) Hampson. Let’s compare! Better than Little Caesars, lol, better than Jimmy John’s, better than Papa John’s, better than Pizza Hut, better than Domino’s! I can’t stand a soggy crust. Antioch’s pizza was flavorful, and above, way above, mid-range. There’s a lot of really good pub pizza parlors out there, or you can have a beer and watch the game with some pizza and good friends. But this particular location, has awesome hot dogs and burgers, beef sandwiches, salads, because sometimes you just don’t want to be a carnivore, a salad it’s the spot.
They also have a nicely stocked ice cream bar. Got to have dessert! It’s right across from the hospital, right next to Jonathan Citows neurosurgery facility. Antioch pizza might not be a destination location, but then again, a lot of what’s referred to as destination establishments are subject to a huge letdown when you finally get there. There is no let down at Antioch Pizza! Great job John, we’ll be back! Do yourself a huge favor and check it out, the staff is awesome! And the food is even better. Now this is my take, and everyone has different tastes. But I do pretty well. Besides, John is a professionally trained chef, My great grandparents and grandfather of course, where Sicilian by way of Argentina. And, I am always in the kitchen cooking for people. Just as John does, It really is a passion.
Lastly, some of these negative reviews are a joke. I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I’m never petty when I write a review. I base my review on the food, there’s always circumstances beyond someone’s control. And to base the level of passion and work that goes into an establishment these days on sitting in the parking lot, or, not having a delivery because the routes had changed, which really has nothing to do with ownership, it has to do with GrubHub or Uber.
The level of ignorance concerning these issues, is mind-bogglingly overwhelming.
