This was about the darkest and grungiest bar in three counties the bartender was nice but she didn’t know how to make a White Russian .i couldn’t figure out how to respond to the owners question of when we visited and it was October 27th in the evening

Haven’t been there in a long time, it was early afternoon, quiet & relaxing. Good conversation, clean environment…I did suggest to bartender they needed to add a clear diet soda or grapefruit juice…I’m diabetic. Janet’s used to be the ‘local night-life’ I’m it’s still a happening place after dark.
It’s a ‘no food service bar’. Eat before you go or enjoy pre-dinner cocktails.

I went there after I got off work and even though I was “late to the party”, the bartender was really cool and made me a couple mixed drinks and some dollar shots, which were low alch % but they were tasty and only a dollar!
I was allowed to drink up until 3am and I appreciate they didn’t try to kick us out any earlier.
p.s. they have some arcade games and pool tables, but I didn’t get to shoot pool.

Really love this bar, excellent bar tenders, they’re very friendly. Only problem is it can get very busy some nights with 50+ people and it’s not uncommon to see a fight break out. Or a group of underage comes in. They usually only staff one bartender so when this happens the whole place comes to a halt because it falls on the busy bartender to break it up and kick people out. I know stuff like that happens, but sometimes it leaves you feeling a little uneasy that things can escalate further because no one is there to stop it. Someone checking ID on a busy night at the door and there to keep anything from escalating would help it a lot.

I came her from out of town. This was the only bar open at 11 PM. I sat down and the bartender was extremely rude. This was on 4/23/19. We ordered drinks. She aleast got those right. We then asked if the kitchen was opened. She said no the are only serving bags of chips. 5 minutes later a “townie” ask for a pizza and the bartender made it for her. I then asked the bartender how do I order a pizza? She literally told me to call pizza hut. These acts should and will deter business.

0/10 recommend if you arent one of the local bar flies. Numerous OSHA violations along with a blatant lack of adherence for the current state mandates and infection control requirements. The atmosphere was more of a high school vibe which is concerning considering the bartender didnt ID any of the patrons that walked in. Monticello being a “tourist” town brings people of all ages to the area so I would assume the lack of ID verification is the businesses way of ensuring they secure maximum profit despite state law. I could imagine EXCISE would have their hands full with this place.
