Id like to start off by saying I rarely write reviews but this place definitely deserves it. I’ve been to several omakase and this is hands down the best as far as taste and experience. I have also been to sushi by scratch in Los Angeles but Miami has been the best experience by far chef Kevin and chef Julian are very experienced and knowledgeable and provided an excellent time and experience for us. I highly recommend trying chef Julian’s special bite that is offered at the end it was amazing and everyone else agreed it’s probably the best piece of sushi that I’ve ever tasted !!! If you like sushi and are in Miami I highly recommended going there ask for chef Kevin and Julian excellent attitude excellent service amazing food can’t wait to go back

An absolutely incredible omakase experience at Sushi by Scratch. Every single bite was exquisite—thoughtfully crafted, perfectly balanced, and clearly the result of serious attention to detail. You can tell that each course is carefully designed to highlight the ingredients and elevate the flavors in a way that feels both creative and authentic.
Chef Jason, Chef Daniel, and Chef David were phenomenal. Not only are they incredibly talented, but they’re also attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They created such a welcoming atmosphere that it truly felt like being invited into their home for dinner.
Rachel, who handled the wine and whisky program, was equally amazing. Her pairings and recommendations were spot on and really elevated the entire experience.
Between the food, the hospitality, and the overall vibe, Sushi by Scratch delivered an unforgettable night. Easily one of the best omakase experiences I’ve had. Highly recommend

Some of the most unique sushi combination I’ve ever had! I really enjoyed the experience and there wasn’t one piece of nigiri I didn’t love. The only downside to the 7:15 reservation is they definitely are rushing to get you out in time for them to reset and prep for the 9:30 reservation so we didn’t have the option for any extenders. I wish the chefs engaged our group a bit more since it was more of an intimate setting and everyone talked amongst their groups mostly until the end when we all had had some drinks in us. Additionally had some louder people who made it difficult to hear the bartender talk about the pairing and the chef had to even ask them to stop talking at one point. Overall, I’d still say it was a top experience and highly recommend for sushi lovers.

Although my wife and I have not yet had the chance to experience Sushi by Scratch, I felt compelled to leave a review because of the exceptional professionalism and kindness shown by their staff. I made a reservation for my wife and myself as a Christmas gift, something I was genuinely looking forward to. Unfortunately, due to my military lifestyle and unexpected deployment-related schedule changes, I had to move the reservation twice and ultimately cancel until I can lock in a more stable schedule.
Throughout the entire process, the team was incredibly polite, understanding, and professional. They helped me immediately every time I reached out and went above and beyond by fully refunding my deposit without hesitation. That level of customer service says a lot about the values of this restaurant.
I truly appreciate the respect and understanding shown toward my situation, and I’m very much looking forward to finally experiencing Sushi by Scratch with my wife once I’m back and able to plan properly. Based on the service alone, I have no doubt it will be worth the wait.

It was a lovely experience, with super knowledgeable chefs and great quality fish. My only gripe is that several pieces had overly sweet garnishes, that took away from the integrity and flavor of the fish. Otherwise, I really appreciated most pieces- they were thoughtfully curated and I liked the creativity. There was also an option to order pieces after omakase concludes, each chef had a special creation.

Can’t imagine it getting any better than this. Sushi by scratch blows all the competition out of the water. Every piece was so intricate and unique. Just when you think you’ve had the best sushi ever, then you try the next piece and it’s even better. Can’t give this place more praise; from the speakeasy entrance, to the interactive staff. If you’re a sushi fanatic, then this place is for you! It’s a hidden restaurant in Coconut Grove, where you enter through a secret door and arrive at an exclusive room with a capacity of around 12 people.
The fish is incredibly fresh and the ingredients are truly gourmet. They prepare the sushi rolls right in front of you, and I personally chose to have them made without rice, except for a few that the chef recommended. Reservations are necessary before going.
The hostess give you a welcome with sake.
It’s very pricy, but exclusive.

Where do I even begin? I walked into this restaurant expecting a nice dinner and left having one of the most unforgettable nights of my life. I wish I could give you a list of things they could improve on, but truthfully, there’s not a single thing I’d change. From the moment we sat down, the staff’s knowledge, warmth, and attention to detail were exceptional.
This wasn’t just dinner it was an experience full of laughter and thoughtful, intellectual conversations. Every tasting left me forgetting the last, and the drink pairings? Perfectly curated to elevate every bite.
But the dessert was rich, balanced, and made even more special with a mini birthday celebration. This night was pure joy from start to finish a 10/10 in every way. My boyfriend and I left with full hearts, full stomachs, and a new favorite memory.
