Phenomenal food at a reasonable price. I genuinely think they have THE best salsa I have ever tried. The alambre was full of all kinds of flavors and juices; it was not dry or bland at all. Owner was sincerely happy to hear my positive feedback which gives me the vibe that she really cares and has passion for what she makes and serves. Will definitely be planning on coming back!

Very clean place as well. Almost spotless.

Update:

Got takeout this time and it was just as good. The al pastor burrito and quesabirria tacos were delicious and they nailed the special requests, even on a slammed home game night. Respect to the team at this place. Can confirm the quesadilla and chimichanga are great too. Really enjoy the new customization options on DoorDash.

The food at Monarca was delicious. The Chips with salsa and queso were good. We had the street tacos and they really hit the spot. We also had a shredded chicken chimichanga with rice and beans and it was exceptional. The service was fast and friendly making the overall experience great. We will be back and I will definitely be recommending this Taqueria to everyone!

First time but definitely won’t be the last time!
The food was very tasty. Also large portions and a fair price for what you get. There’s a lot on the menu. Plus some traditional sodas, beers and Margaritas to drink as well. They also have combo meals for WVU students with a valid student id. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Definitely worth a visit!

My husband got a burrito with ground beef and I got the super empanada on recommendation from the chef (with birria) and a horchata

Everything was fresh and delicious and the staff were very kind and helpful.

I’m looking forward to visiting again and trying something new next time we come through Morgantown

Quiet little place down town. The atmosphere is casual. The staff was very friendly. The food was unfortunate. I had a chimichanga while my wife had a fish taco and the asada fries. My chimichanga was half tortilla as in they put a bit of meat in then rolled the rest of the burrito in a spiral to make it look bigger think about a 6 or 9 on its side and the closed part was all tortilla. The meat had no seasoning. The beans were just as ho hum. The rice actually did have good flavor to them. The fries were cheap bagged fries that couldn’t stand alone and the toppings did nothing to improve them. The guacamole was ok. The Pico was overwhelming with red onion and had no citrus or cilantro to cut it. The queso may as well not been there. The fish taco was ok but the Chipotle sauce was the only redeeming quality. Over all this is a pass for my wife and I.

Highly recommend! The food was delicious and the flavors seemed very authentic. Portion sizes were great for the price, and I wish we hadn’t been on our way out of town and could have taken our leftovers home. The employee (owner??) took quite a bit of time to go over the menu with us and explain the different meats and salsas. Adding to our date night rotation so we can explore the rest of the extensive menu.

I was in Morgantown for one night and needed a quick bite. This place totally hit the spot. I was skeptical at first of the Mexican Ramen dish but was too curious not to try it. I’m so glad I did bc it’s delicious!! My partner got the vegetarian fajitas with rice and beans. That was super good too. Its an order at the counter place so the food came out fast and hot. Perfect for a tasty quick meal.

Ridiculously delicious Mexican food right in downtown Morgantown! We loved all the food we got, we just wished that the nachos were served with the chips separately because the chips got a bit soggy. I’d also loooove some elote in a cup, but on the cob was great too. We will be back!

Was so excited to try this after so many great reviews, but was confused when I tasted how bland the birria tacos were! Did they use bad broth? Forget the salt? I can only say these were the most tasteless tacos I have ever had in my life.

My fiancé and I ordered the shrimp burritos. He is allergic to **reheated** shellfish and had an allergic reaction to it. Certainly wouldn’t expect reheated shrimp from an authentic Mexican restaurant.
