At our Clinton Township, MI location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

The service is friendly makes you feel like you’re at at 5 start restaurant. All the food it made fresh and always hot. I drive an hour to go there so worth it. I always tip the cashier and cook.

A year ago, this restaurant had dropped in quality—the food wasn’t great and the portions were small. I’m so glad they’ve gone back to their roots! The food is now delicious, the portions are back to being generous (I’m completely full!), and I love it. It’s my favorite restaurant, and I highly recommend it.

“Gums from Big Dawg” – Not Quite the Combo Meal I Expected
I stopped by Captain D’s hoping for a quick seafood fix, and the service was friendly — until someone offered me “gums from Big Dawg.” I don’t know if that’s a new promo, an inside joke, or just a wild mix-up, but it definitely left me questioning my life choices.
Aside from that, the fish and sides were fine, but maybe next time, let’s keep the menu items to something you can deep-fry.

Absolutely love captain d’s! My family and I have been coming here since they opened. We have seen all walks of life here. Young, old, middle age, black, white or in between. Love the music mix they play during the open hours, it fits for every person that comes in here. I find it to be very demographic for the area. Manager is the best! Always makes us feel at home and always aims to please. We have 4 girls ranging from 1-14 with some picky eaters and they all love this place! Shout out to the owner & team! You guys are doing an amazing job! Also, they have the best fish & Mac n cheese I’ve ever had! My kids and I love it! Looking for a new lunch spot? I promise you won’t regret coming in here 🙂
