A hair above average. Amount to price is on the high end of average
Friendly staff, clean and cheery atmosphere, bonus when the owner asks how things are.
I got the brisket plate ($13.). It comes with two sides and this time I chose the cheesy taters and the cole slaw. Cheesy taters are smooth, creamy, cheesy flavored potato shreds…. Very yummy. The cole slaw was run of the mill and sort of tasted like it was watered down (very very light flavored). My brisket was tender and easy to cut with a fork but left no memorable impression but, Im a southern implant (Georgia). The BBQ sauce was sweet but again, run of the mill and came in a separate dispenser.
Overall it was a hair above average but, I will come back and try something new because if the great staff and personal touches.

Memphis style wood smoke BBQ. EXCELLENT! Flavor profile! Came down to visit my aunt and saw the sign that said BBQ on our way home, decided to stop and so glad we did! Ordered Tipsy Texan sandwich, Italian Chicken, and a half rack of ribs. Wow! We’re going to eat here every time we come visit. True tangy Memphis style mustard sauce. Only issue was the meat fell off the ribs, suggesting it was held to long in the warmer. But flavor, tenderness, texture, amazing!

This is a pretty good barbeque. We were there on a Tuesday afternoon so it was not too busy, but the food was fresh and the service was very friendly and attentive. The brisket and burnt ends were both very tasty, but the real star of the show was the cheesy potatoes. They were amazing

We make the call to BG’s for the Win. Super-slow-smoked-brisket, ribs, tater salad, beans, pickles w/ tub of bbqsauce. There’s a cheese biscuit for the road, it’s sensibly boxed. It’s a call we like to make.

Often times the smallest places have the best food. This is true for BG’s. There’s about 12 seats inside and several picnic tables outside. They also do take out and even have a drive up window for convenience for call ahead orders.
I had the sampler platter which includes 5 meats — 3 ounces each of brisket, brisket burnt ends, turkey, pulled pork and your choice of mild or hot sausage (I had the spicy) and two cheddar biscuits. All were very good with a good smoke flavor. House sauces are very good. They offered a spicy sauce and a vinegary mustard sauce.
Overall a very good experience. Prices are reasonable and you really do get quite a bit of food. Well worth it in my opinion.

Another fantastic meal from BG’s!!! Everything is always so good…the ribs are always top notch, and everything else is always so tasty. The brisket was so tender and moist, burnt ends were wonderful, as usual. The sides of bbq beans and cheesy taters and cheesy rolls are just yummy!!! But I got to call out the turkey breast this time. While it is always good….this time it was so moist and juicy…with more smoke flavoring. Just knocked it out of the park with the turkey breast this time!!!

Cannot say enough about this place. Great privately owned establishment. Owners are so nice and food is great. We came in from out of town wanting to feed a small group and placed a bigger order than they were prepared to give to us. I failed to see on the menu where it stated they needed a little notice to make those bigger orders. They pulled through for us anyway in a very timely matter. And…food homemade and soooo good. Will be back!

BG’s doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it turns it is a delightful little addition to the Monmouth Independence cuisine options. There is a small dining area, a pick up window, and plenty of takeout options. I had the burnt ends sandwich with cheesy potatoes, and it was positively scrumptious. They gave me a double portion of the amazing barbeque sauce, which I’ll be enjoying later. A bit more than I usually pay for a sandwich, but worth it. I’ll definitely be back.

Violent and rude owner. Rude right off the bat and very gruff. Acted like we were bothering him by dropping by. There was literally no one at the restaurant, despite the burger joint next door being absolutely packed.
We came on time crunch and let the owner know, and asked what the quickest option would be. We were informed the food was already prepared, but ordered what the man working (the owner?) said would be quick. We ordered and after 10-15 minutes, nothing. We went to check on the order and very politely and apologetically informed him we had an appointment for our car and wanted to know about how much longer the food would be. He was immediately upset and said it wasn’t done. We asked for our money back as it was taking a lot longer than expected, and he then slammed his fist down extremely angrily and said the food was done, packaged it and threw the bags at us through the window, and yelled at us to never come back. As if we would even consider returning. The food was also not good at all, found a hair in it it had no flavour. We tossed it as it was quite literally the worst barbecue we’ve ever had.
Steer very, very clear of this place.
