Delicious hotpot with good quality ingredients & generous portions. Here’s what I learned:
– we arrived around 7 pm and waited around 5-10 mins for a table which is great! I did notice that groups that arrived after 8 pm had much longer wait times, so keep that in mind for your dinner time planning
– sukiyaki soup base was the best, I’d order it for everyone at the table. didn’t like the mushroom broth that much
– sides we ordered: tiger shrimp, fish balls, and shrimp balls. Fish balls were our favourite!
– we got the Classic standard package with 3 meats and just ordered the 3 halal meat options. The best meats are the Beef’s (Australian & Wagyu). We didn’t like the lamb as much tbh, I wouldn’t order lamb again
– cooking times: hotpot advice is usually to cook meats for 10-15 sec. We found that cooking lamb for 1.5 minutes and cooking the beef until the fat is melting (1-2 minutes) makes the meat taste better. I would encourage people to just experiment and try different cooking times!
– dips: best sauces were the sweet soy sauce, as well as all the spicy sauces and chilli oil. Mushroom sauce was also decent
– noodles: we tried Udon and Ramen, next time I’d order multiple Udon and only Udon!

Anyways hopefully this information helps people!
Final advice: we ordered the classic package as 2 people and we almost exploded from fullness. Still recovering the next day. Definitely go with a group of 3 at minimum also you can take the leftover broth home, it tastes so good!

Most importantly: HAVE FUN and mashikeh mogo!

I went there for a friends meet up. I’ve been to their San Mateo location before and this one is entirely new. I believe they opened just a couple months ago and the environment is brand new and fresh.Their service was very fast and they have two sauce bar for the guests. The seats weren’t too crowded and the hot pot tastes really good and authentic. I thought the portion was little, but I got very full at the end. The price was also very fair in the city. The staff were very nice. I would recommend here.

We came to Mumu Hot Pot in San Francisco because we had previously gone to the one in Pleasanton and loved it, so we decided to check out this location for another hot pot fix no reservations or long wait, and we were seated right away. As hot pot lovers, this spot hit the spot with its focus on personal mini pots and high-quality ingredients, making it a cozy, customizable experience that’s perfect for solo diners or small groups.

ATMOSPHERE:
This casual Chinese hot pot joint has a welcoming, no-frills vibe think spacious seating for groups (plenty at the Stonestown-adjacent location), simple decor with wooden tables, and an open setup where the aroma of simmering broths fills the air. The smell of the restaurant was okay, with decent ventilation keeping things fresh, and the bathrooms were very clean. It’s lively during peaks but never overwhelming, fitting 30+ people comfortably with a neighborhood feel that’s great for a relaxed meal in SF’s west side.

MENU:
The menu (qr code) centers on build-your-own hot pot with personal mini pots, offering broth bases like buttery spicy – (my personal fave), sichuan spicy, tom yum, tomato, or mushroom, plus premium meats (beef, lamb, pork), seafood, veggies, noodles, and add-ons. Combo sets for 1-2 people make ordering easy, with a solid sauce bar for customization. No all-you-can-eat, but generous portions and fresh options throughout.

FOOD:
The buttery spicy broth was the star addicting with its rich, fiery kick that kept us dipping everything in sight, perfectly balancing heat and creaminess. We loaded up on high-quality meats that cooked up tender and flavorful, but the veggie assortment was overwhelming we ended up with way too many that went uneaten, which felt wasteful given the pricing. Still, the fresh ingredients and that broth made it a crave-worthy hot pot experience we’d rank among SF’s better ones.

SERVICE:
No reservations needed, and even with a potential waitlist, service was efficient and friendly our server was knowledgeable about broth pairings and kept things moving smoothly.

TIPS:
Opt for combo sets to share and avoid over-ordering veggies, as portions are generous. It’s on the pricier side compared to other hot pots (expect $30-50 per person), so we’d love an AYCE option or adjusted pricing for better value. The sauce bar is top notch, with a wide array of condiments, spices, and mixes to elevate your dips try experimenting for custom flavors. Parking near Stonestown is convenient with the mall lot nearby, but go early to beat crowds.

OVERALL:
Was it worth the visit? Absolutely, especially for hot pot fans hooked on that spicy, mouth-numbing broth. Mumu delivers quality and fun in a casual SF setting, though better pricing or AYCE would make it unbeatable. We’ll be back, but with a lighter hand on the veggies.

This was my first time experiencing hot pot simply because I’ve never found any place which offered vegetarian selections before! Now I’ve truly realized what I’ve missed all these years! The best part about Mumu is everyone gets their own hot pot so each person can pick their own individual soup bases and ingredients. As a vegetarian, I am completely satisfied with the options and taste. The choices of soups and sauces is amazing. I got the veg combo which gets you a little bit of all the options! Recommend!

Mumu Hot Pot is such a great addition to the SFSU community. Usually I get pretty overwhelmed by hot pot choices and tend to over order but I love that they offer meal sets for 2 which comes with 3 meat, 2 choice of noodles and tons of veggies for $68. There’s a big selection of sauces and toppings to choose from too. It doesn’t look like a lot but trust me, by the time you finish everything, you’ll probably have to unbuckle your pants. Everything tasted very fresh and high quality especially the meat. I loved how flavorful the soup base is. My favorite is definitely their Tom Yum soup base. Service is great! They’re attentive and efficient. Seating is spacious. Street parking is available outside. Overall, solid hot pot spot and would be back!

We go to MUMU about once a week. The staff keeps the place clean and well run. You can tell they like each other, and there’s always a kind, easy energy when we walk in. After every table, they clean the stove really thoroughly, which I really appreciate.

The ingredients are always fresh and nicely presented. The vegetables are crisp, the meat is beautifully sliced, and everything feels clean. It’s not one of those super fancy hot pot places with a show and gold leaves on the wagyu, and it’s not the kind of super “authentic” spot where the sauce bar feels a little questionable either. It’s somewhere in the middle, in a really good way.

Mumu Hotpot is absolutely fantastic! I had such a wonderful time here with friends, trying a variety of meats and flavors. The quality of the meat is exceptional – fresh, tender, and so flavorful. Every bite was a treat!

The overall experience was just amazing. Sharing different dishes with friends made it even more enjoyable, and the variety of options ensures there’s something for everyone to love.

If you’re looking for a fun, delicious, and satisfying hotpot experience, Mumu Hotpot is the perfect spot. I can’t wait to go back!

I’ve been to so many restaurants in the Bay Area but this one has the worst service I’ve ever had.
We paid 94.97$ for food and we asked for water because the soup was super spicy for me, but the waiter pretended not to see us. Need service improvement.

This was my first hot pot in like 6 years and it didn’t disappoint. We ordered the meat lover set which came with plenty of veggies and 3 meat options. We tried their 3 available halal options and they were all good. They had a solid sauce bar and the waiters were incredibly helpful and friendly. I also ordered a side of fish balls which were good.
