Ciao Bella in New Paltz is a wonderful spot. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, set inside a beautifully restored former train station that has been thoughtfully transformed into a charming and elegant restaurant. The history of the space adds so much character and makes the dining experience feel special and unique.

The customer service was genuinely kind, warm, and friendly, making us feel right at home. The veal was incredibly tasty, and the beet salad was fresh and flavorful. To finish the meal, the coffee and cappuccino were excellent—rich, smooth, and perfectly made. A truly lovely place for both great food and a memorable atmosphere.

Food is well cooked. My dish came done very tenderly, though it did taste strongly of lemon and little else. Wish the rest of the ingredients shone through a bit more.

The real deduction here is for service. A friend of mine who is highly allergic asked specifically about appetizers being served and was told they were OK (he checked the dish but not the sauce put over it). They were not, and we spent a very tense following 20 minutes wondering if we would have a medical emergency on our hands. When told about this (on the side so as to not create a scene in front of the rest of the table), the server, who told us he was also the manager that night, kept deflecting and making justifications instead of owning up to his mistake. He insisted allergic folks could simply “order something else” if they were unsure, unaware that if he couldn’t state if the first dish was safe why would we trust a second dish. He did not seem to understand his role in finding out critical information and the restaurant’s responsibility for the well being of it’s guests, nor did he seem to take a valid medical condition seriously.

The only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because after that they swapped servers at our table and the woman who took over did a much better job of listening, going to to kitchen to ask after things, getting a compete answer, and delivering useful allergy information. Because of her we avoided a repeat situation with dessert.

I doubt I will be back, and I will be recommending friends look for another restaurant to celebrate at. There are lots of alternatives in the Hudson Valley and disregarding a serious medical condition like severe food allergies is a serious oversight on the part of staff.

Our dinner experience was wonderful! This restaurant is very open and larger inside than we expected. This restaurant is staged with traditional Italian, classy decor. The menu is classic Italian with a few modern twists. Cocktails were very good, as is the wine selection. Our waitress was wonderful! She is super y’all! We dined soup to nuts with appetizers, salad, multiple cocktails, entrees, & desserts which came to about $90 pp, but you could easily spend less than we did.

My dish, the halibut, was perfect and delicious, however; my wife’s dish, the chicken parm with pasta, was very generic and the sauce tasted like it came from a jar, nothing tasted chef made. Our apps and desert were very good. Service was impeccable, and friendly. All.done with a smile. The atmosphere was to contemporary for our liking, we prefer a more intimate and warm atmosphere.
Overall, it was a very good experience and date night.
Thank you.

Lovely! The dry aged steak was very good. And the seafood ravioli were very tasty and prepared well. The service was very good. And the desserts were excellent. The restaurant interior was lovely and the outdoor area where we sat was very pleasant. Plenty of parking as a bonus. We will definitely be going back!

We were excited given the reviews. The endive salad was tasteless, the t-bone was tough and filled with gristle. The vodka shrimp was okay. The waiter ghosted us after the main dishes were dropped. Cannot recommend. Way too expensive for the food quality.

What an exceptional place .
Roland and his staff , which includes family members have struck a perfect balance at this restaurant.
Aesthetically, inside the restaurant it is just beautiful. It’s very upscale and almost feels elegant without being overwhelming. The food preparation and presentation is beautiful and well done. Food choices are interesting and varied and the food is excellent. You feel like you’re in some elegant upscale restaurant, but the feel from the waiters and the staff is very welcoming and warm and friendly. Nobody is stuffy or arrogant or pretentious. They are very accommodating and if you have any dietary restrictions they’re also pleasant about any accommodations. They always have great specials each week.
This is such a wonderful place to have a nice cozy dinner or to have a family get together. It just always feels good when we come here. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough.

Just came to New Paltz from Los Angeles and had a delicious dinner here. The Clams Oreganato were perfect. We can’t find this dish in LA. Our main course, the Chicken Paillard was delicious, covered with sauteed mushrooms, onions, and garlic cloves. And our server, Ozzy, took great care of us.

Beautiful and so unexpected! It is in a converted train depot. It’s just missing signage so if it looks empty as you approach it is not.
We had a graduation and planned to celebrate with a lunch beforehand.

The server was wonderful, made recommendations that were totally on point.

The restaurant is in what appears to be an old train station restored as a restaurant. Come in nice weather and eat outside. Everyone here is above par with excellent friendly service that is genuine. The food is excellent as well. The clams appetizer is delicious as is the chicken parm main dish. For dessert definitely get the pistachios ricotta cake, outstanding. Thanks for an amazing meal and time.
