Daily wanted to try something different while in town and this place is what we choose. It was hard to find but we finally did. Glad we got there when we did because the space is very small for seating. But the food oh my the food was 10/10. See pics below. My husband really enjoyed the sweet potato waffles. I was questionable about the grits but the waiter stated that I would not sugar or anything extra and she was right. The grits was to die for. Oh a the bacon was cooked to perfection. I loved how she asked how I like it. I said Crosby but not burnt and it came out like like I wanted it. I would recommend this little resturant to anyone who wants good food! It is also kid friendly, they had coloring sheets to keep the kiddos busy till the food came out.

This was my 2nd time visiting within 2 months. I had the Alberta breakfast again loved the sweet potato waffles and this time tried the shimp & grits. My only thing i would say is that the sauce for the grits was a bit salty but everything else was delicious. Got an opportunity to meet the part owner and she was so sweet and friendly! She complimented us and thank us for patronizing the business. The waiters are extremly sweet as well. I can’t remember the name of my mocktail but it was purple with grapes something with a flower it was sooo refreshing and sweet. I want another one!!!

If you are heading toward the Memphis airport and want one last comforting bite before takeoff, Kitchen Laurel is a lovely little pause button.
I spotted it on my drive, and the energy alone made me curious. It was clearly busy in that reassuring way where plates are moving, voices hum softly, and you can feel that people come here on purpose. The decor is modern and clean, uncluttered but welcoming, with a giant chalkboard stealing the show. It’s covered in seasonal notes and a charming Take and Bake menu, the kind that makes you wish you had room in your carry on.
My server, Tiffany, was a bright spot in the room. You could tell she was working hard, gliding from table to table with ease, never rushed but always moving. Friendly without being overbearing, attentive without hovering, the kind of service that makes you relax into your seat.
I kept my order simple from the à la carte menu, scrambled eggs and potatoes, and sometimes simple tells you everything you need to know about a kitchen. The eggs arrived fluffy, soft, and creamy, still warm and silky on the fork. Hats off to the cook, because perfectly cooked scrambled eggs are an art and these were spot on.
The potatoes were golden and fragrant, seasoned with a blend of herbs that smelled fresh and savory the moment the plate hit the table. You could taste that the seasoning was made in house, earthy and comforting, with a gentle crisp on the outside and a tender bite inside.
The room carried the soft clink of plates, the low murmur of conversation, and that cozy breakfast aroma that lingers just long enough to make you slow down. It felt like a place that knows exactly what it is and does it well.
Would I go back again? Absolutely ❤️

Kitchen Laurel in the Cooper-Young area of Memphis, Tennessee was a great dining experience overall. I really enjoyed the sweet potato waffles they were flavorful and cooked just right. My wife ordered the grits and ate them without adding any extra sugar, which says a lot because they were that good on their own. The atmosphere fit the Cooper-Young vibe perfectly. The only thing I would have improved was my over-medium eggs, which weren’t quite how I prefer them, but it didn’t take away from an otherwise enjoyable meal. Definitely a spot worth checking out when you’re in the area.

Very tasteful and original breakfast dishes. Excellent ingredients, well cooked. The avocado toast with eggs was prepared with mole sauce, which made it special. My Mexican wife was impressed! Also the Greek sautéed vegetables were fantastic.
The atmosphere is very good, with very friendly and joyful personnel. It’s in a nice neighborhood of Memphis.

Best breakfast I have ever had. This place was the perfect way to introduce my family to all that I love about Memphis. Sweet “T” greeted us with a smile and made us feel right at home. The food was phenomenal- fluffy pancakes with homemade butter, secret recipe sweet tea and grits that need no toppings and iced coffee with actual coffee ice cubes. I would suggest reading the specials board before you look at the menu as there are even more amazing treats listed there. Do not pass go- grab one. Or two friends ( the place is small) and go eat there NOW!

In town for a game, I planned my morning run to end here. Small and quaint inside, but thankfully they had a perfect sidewalk table for me. Miranda was outstanding. By the time I left it felt like we were friends. Eggs with cheese was yummy, and not sure what they did to my sausage but it was so tasty! The pancake was fluffy and buttery. This is my new go to place from now on!

Kitchen Laurel is a charming spot that made for a delightful brunch experience. Despite needing last-minute seating for a group of nine, they accommodated us seamlessly, and the service was excellent throughout. The place itself is small but full of character, creating a cozy atmosphere. I had the Alberta breakfast with grits, turkey sausage, pancakes, and eggs for just $18—everything was delicious! We also tried the breakfast sushi rolls, which were interesting, though not the highlight for us.
Parking was either street or a small lot on the side, so keep that in mind. Next time I’m in Memphis, I’ll definitely return to try more of their menu. If you’re looking for a welcoming spot with good food, check them out!

I simply cannot express how much I absolutely adored this place!!
This place is family owned and you are treated like family from the moment you walk in!
Their iced coffee has coffee cubes in it, which is such a pleasant surprise – especially in Memphis during the summer, when things are melting before you can close the freezer door.
I ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy – the gravy was so good, but not the star of the show; that was the homemade biscuits. They are cooked to perfection and taste delicious, but they stand out because of their size and shape. They are so big and square shaped, to the point where they are almost cubes of biscuits; they were cooked to perfection despite their unique shape.
I will absolutely return to Kitchen Laurel – amazing prices, tastes, and stellar customer service.
