Food is pretty incredible and the pastries (almond and chocolate croissants) are as close to a Parisienne cafe as you’re gonna get in Queens/Nassau counties. Owner is very nice. Staff friendliness is a hit or miss and locals dining in are not overly welcoming that’s why I do take out early in the morning on Sundays. My family is always excited when they see the clear Patis bag holding their favorite croissants.

I’m almost hesitant to give a positive review only because one of the things I love about it is that it’s still a nice place to eat where it’s not overcrowded. The food is always fresh and delicious. They’re baked goods are their specialty and they do it quite well. If you’re lucky you’ll be there while they’re giving out free samples. It’s such a nice salad, sandwich, soup type of place. Although there is not officially waiter service, once you’ve placed your order, the staff will often bring your food to the table. It’s just a friendly vibe. Also, their prices are very good and on the low end for comparable food in the area. There is free parking on site.

Patis Bakery in Lawrence, NY is a cozy hole-in-the-wall gourmet bakery/restaurant that’s expensive, yet worth every penny. All food (including fresh oversized croissants with house made jam) and beverages (including Fireplace Hot Chocolate with in-house torched marshmallow) are presently beautifully, packaged securely and elegantly (when purchased as take-out), and are delicious. The number of options to customize many menu items is almost beyond belief (i. e. a build-your-own salad can have up to 99 (!) add-ons – including a fried egg, multiple cheeses, tuna salad, sweet potatoes, roasted green and/or black olives, balsamic reduction, chipotle aioli, etc., with all but a very few options being included at no additional charge.

Really great breakfasts sandwiches. Had the egg and cheese croissant. The croissant was buttery and flaky. The eggs had the cheese incorporated, so it wasn’t globbing up and spilling out of the sandwich.

I walked into this café and, unfortunately, had a very poor experience. Neither of the two women behind the counter acknowledged me when I entered. I spent about 3–5 minutes looking at the options—right in front of them—and still wasn’t greeted.
I went to the register twice. The first time, I gave them a moment after a few seconds, but they were talking and never turned to me. The second time, I stood at the counter and even said “excuse me” twice to the staff member just an arm’s length away, yet I was still ignored. At that point, I left.
It’s disappointing because the customers inside seemed to be enjoying their treats, and I love pastries myself. I work close by and was hoping to make this my new go-to spot, especially since I visit Panera 4–8 times a week and wanted a change. Unfortunately, the lack of basic customer service left me wondering why I was treated differently.
There’s only one thing that differentiated me from the other customers, and I truly hope that’s not the kind of service this business regularly provides to people like me.

Delicious food. Great service.
Just keep your eyes on the prices. The menu doesn’t reflect what you are being charged at the register.
