Worst experience since I arrived here in Mobile! I drove 20+ minutes to the restaurant. Because they didn’t answer the phone and the vmail is at maximum capacity. I let the person behind the counter know I want to to order BBQ ribs and chicken. Then I’m informed they don’t BBQ daily !? You don’t BBQ daily, so when is the next time you’ll have the grill going? “Not sure, no specific days”. OMG, change the name! I can’t…

If you like a hole in the wall. Low key spot this is it….you will be shoulder to shoulder but it’s cool, a good inexpensive date night can play pool for $1.00.

The Tree is a humble little restaurant on a quiet street in derelict downtown Prichard, where it is a welcome breath of fresh air. Went with my dog and sat outside, so I only got to see the tiny patio with just a couple of tables and the counter where you place your order. It’s a bare-bones, no-nonsense kind of spot, but neatly maintained. Ordered ribs, which were done in the typical Gulf-coast style (sweet), collards, and banana pudding. The food is standard “soul” fare, no surprises. A little vinegar on the ribs would cut the syrupy quality (and, for that matter, would be nice on the collards as well). The pudding reminded me of a school cafeteria, and not in a good way. Staff and customers were all warm and friendly. Drinks, even the non-alcoholic ones, are obtained, mysteriously, from another part of the establishment, presumably the bar, so I skipped the beverage. (The server would have brought me one if I had asked.) I’ll be back to try their other offerings. It looks like a reliable, reasonably-priced place. Huge parking lot across the street.

Being a Chef myself I’m very picky where and what I eat!!!! The young lady at the window knows her stuff, it was Celtics/Warriors night so it was pretty packed! The Chef was getting those orders out quickly and my food and my buddies food was amazing. She was a beast back there…They were absolutely awesome!!! Thank you both for your patience and your professionalism!! Chef Kevin

The ribs were good and tender but no seasoning. The sauce on the ribs were real good. That potato salad that comes in that tub with no eggs in it you say all your customers love is trash. They don’t have anything else to compare it too. Don’t buy that kind anymore it taste like potatoes half cooked with sugar and mayo. Add some dry rub or something on that meat.

The Chef here at The Tree, or Hatties Hot Bar, Hattie, knows exactly what she’s doing in that kitchen!! The wings we got were the best wings you can find in mobile county and her homemade baked beans gave me life!! 10/10 reccommend! Get you some delicious comfort food from Ms Hattie
