We always look for diners, where the locals go. I ordered the special appetizer, fried green tomatoes, they were really good! I had the grilled chicken sandwich which was pretty basic, but very good. I added tots, nothing special. Great atmosphere. The wait staff were really nice. That’s always a plus.

Cozy diner with lots of locals in Spruce Pine. Excellent mushroom swiss burger and very good Carolina BBQ sandwich. Friendly staff, moderate prices, good food – everything you want in a diner.

If I could put less than one star I would. My fiance and I ordered 1 mountain dew, 1 sweet tea, a ham and cheese omelet, and western omelet, only the eggs not the whole meal. They charged us $18.19 and did not offer a veteran discount. The eggs were small and cold. When we called to ask why the price was so high, and what would have been the difference if we had gotten the meal. Their reply was, you would have paid a dollar more a piece and you would have gotten toast. They offered nothing else to redeem themselves and went about their day. Even with toast this meal was not worth a penny of what we spent on it. We grew up in this town eating here often over the years with elder family members and had fond memories of how great a place it WAS. We are so disappointed that this is the second time we have been here in the last few months and the quality is gone. I don’t know what has happened to change there food and service quality so badly but they need to make some serious adjustments to at the least the quality of the food. Get it together 50’s classic diner. Seriously a huge disappointment.

Not a true 50’s diner feel, that said the burgers etc are more than acceptable for an inexpensive lunch. Service is fast and friendly, food is prepared to order and has a decent variety. Take a break from work, stop while driving the parkway, or selecting a fresh Christmas tree. Fast easy and decently fun addition to shopping in the unique downtown area.

This is literally the diamond in the rough of diners, great staff they are very friendly and some of the best pancakes in the world definitely worth the drive for me.

I usually do not leave bad reviews for locally owned establishments. This place was so bad I had to review it. Maybe they’re hamburgers are good and it might just be what we ordered but it was awful.
We both got ham and cheese sandwiches. The sandwiches were delivered off of a very dirty grill. The bread had been basted with some type of cheap vegetable oil served with a very, very thin, barely noticeable slice of ham from a reconstituted ham roll and as cheap as a slice of processed orangish yellow American cheese food as you can possibly get. It was awful and we each finished barely a half before we could not eat anymore.
Our server was very pleasant but she was not the one ordering and preparing the food.
We looked around and most people were having hamburgers but after what we saw of our sandwiches I can’t imagine the owners would serve any type of quality product.
This might be for some people, but if you are from out of town be aware.

Our family first visited this charming ’50s classic diner in Spruce Pines back in August, and it instantly became our breakfast spot every day for a week! My wife declared their pancakes the best she’s ever had, and I couldn’t get enough of their fried bologna and egg and cheese sandwich. The food is fantastic, and the prices are incredibly reasonable—back home, we’d easily pay twice as much for a breakfast half as good. We love the place so much it even influenced our decision to buy a home nearby. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a delicious, nostalgic breakfast experience

50’s Diner is a great place to eat. The food is consistently delicious, and the staff is so pleasant. We always feel welcomed here. The food is great, the portions are perfect, and the prices are very fair. If you want a hometown delicious meal, this is the place. We highly recommend this little gem!!

Just stop in for a milkshake with my motorcycle riding buddy. The young lady that served us was very pleasant and the shakes were delicious. I’ll be back for lunch.
