Cancun has stayed within the Ruiz family for 13 years. More than 20 years ago a Native of Mexico, Roberto Ruiz wanted to bring authentic Mexican cuisine to Knoxville after owning and operating several Mexican restaurants throughout Tennessee. In 2010 he decided to open Cancun, a Mexican Grill & Cantina restaurant with a laid back family environment, serving from tamales, burritos, carne asadas, to sizzling fajitas! Really nice place. Food was very good. The only issue I have is that all of the restaurants in this area all seem to be in a rush to get you fed and get you out. My recommendation for this is to order your apps first and after they arrive, order your entrée. Otherwise the table is full of everything you order all at once. The Sampler was delicious and the Molcajeta was very good.

I had my food just a few seconds after walking in. I didn’t know about the famous chocolate cake but they sure do contain it like it’s a delicacy, I will definitely be trying this next time!! Pictures were all i got this time, but if I had more time I would have gotten the slice of cake too!! I was sad I didn’t get to try it, because man it looks SO good!!

This was a last minute lunch stop for hangry kids. The interior is beautiful. Feels like you’re eating in a court yard our server was sweet and patient with the kids. Even took them to see all the glass bottle sodas so they could pick. Food was good and we will definitely be back. The queso was nice and thick and tasted like real cheese. They also have a salsa bar. We loved trying little bits of different ones. Will 100% be back next time we’re in halls!

Lovely Mexican place my wife and I visit regularly. We typically get the appetizer sampler to split, which has remained high in quality while also going up in price pretty frequently. When we started ordering it a couple years ago it was ~$16 or so before tax, and now it’s priced at $25. Still worth it as my wife and I can stuff ourselves on good tasting shrimp, steak, chicken, and more. Staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is always lovely

My boyfriend and I was there on sunday the 21st for Christmas party, the server never check on us, she stayed at other end mostly because they were drinking. The food fir both of us was cold. The price for cheese sauce was way over priced for the amount to got. To get beans and rice on the side is one of the cheapest meals you can make was $6. And did not get much on plate, the chicken on mine was over over cooked.
The bill was was like $45. With out tip.

Me and my wife went about 130 today (sunday) there was no one there. When we left there was 3 other couples came in.
We had a cheese dip. It was really good. Full of flavor. She could not eat much of it do to it being a little spicy.
The salsa bar is a cool idea. All the salsa had a very great flavors. They go from a little spicy to really spicy.
She had the Spinach quesadilla. It was just ok. It had alot of spinach and cheese in it.
I had the 4 enchiladas. 1 beef 1 chicken 1 cheese, 1 bean. Replaced enchilada sauce with cheese sauce. The beef and cheese was good. The the shredded chicken was only seasoned with salt pepper and 1 small strip of onion. The bean was blan.
We both ordered a side of rice. Once you get enough salt on it. The flavor was ok. But it was way over cooked. It was mush.
She had a jumbo top shelf margarita. She said it was really good.

We live close by and wanted to give Cancun Restaurant a try. We saw our server exactly three times. When she took the order, when she brought the food, and when she brought the check. The menu does not have good descriptions. My entree came with beans that were not stated on the menu, and my fiance’s food came with veggies that were not listed on the menu. They do have a cool salsa bar with many salsas. The salsa bar was probably the best part. Probably won’t come here in the near future.

The Cancun restaurant is a legend in Knoxville. The current location in Halls is not tha old, but Cancun restaurant are located in different areas of Knoxville. I like this one in Halls due to the open Salsa bar and the very good service team. The food is excellent and Mexican drinks/cocktails can also be taken at the bar.

We had our order delivered. The fajita quesadilla was cold with undercooked vegetables and dry, cold meat. Yes, it was delivered, but it seemed like it had never even been heated through, if that makes sense. It definitely was not fresh. Just a heads up, the tacos were meat and tortilla only. The chicken egg roll tasted good, but was very soggy on the bottom. Order did not come with chips or salsa Last time we ate inside, the salsa wasn’t good, nor was my meal.

Love this place! They have delicious food with great margaritas at a good price. The setup is cozy and has a nice out side patio or indoor bar to relax. The staff are also very polite and professional.
