My wife has been here a couple times, but I had never been. We arrived just after 4:00 on a Saturday. They had just opened. We sat at the end of the bar.

We were quickly greeted by the bartender Jess. She delivered menus and explained the specials to us. My wife got a Misguided Angel and I got a Stella Artios. Both were served in frosty glasses.

We decided on the Mozzarella Sticks for an app. They were delivered with some bread, seasoned EVOO and marinara. Most of the Mozzarella Sticks I get I would consider to be breaded. These were not breaded, but more battered than breaded. The Mozzarella sticks are honestly some of the best I’ve had. They were cooked to perfection and extremely tasty.

For mains, my wife ordered a large Pepperoni Pizza with no sauce. I told the Bartender that I was having whatever she recommended, and my wife, as usual, added “Don’t tell him!”. She asked if I had any allergies, to which I replied no.

The mains took a while to come out, but the Bartender continued to check in on us and apologized for the delay. In the mean time she switched over to White Russians, while I stuck with the Stella’s.

My wife’s Pizza came out just like she asked and was excellent.

I received the Chicken Parmesan. The Bartender said that it was the most popular thing on the menu, so it had to be a good bet. The Chicken Parm was GIANT. ENORMOUS, but also quite good. The chicken itself had a nice crispy crust. The sauce was delicious, and the pasta underneath was well seasoned and well cooked. I would have been fine with it being a touch less cooked, but it certainly wasn’t over (I just prefer it a touch more al dente). I was able to eat about half of it before having to ask for a box.

My wife asked the Bartender to pick out a to go dessert for her, but not to tell her what it was. The bartender’s reply was “This is a fun game!”. She returned a few minutes later with a dessert packaged to go home. My wife tried to cheat and take a look at what was on the check, so that she knew what she was getting, but the Bartender actually entered “Surprise Dessert” on the check so my wife was unable to cheat.

The dessert was Cannolis with Chocolate Chips, which my wife claimed were delicious.

Wow. Wasn’t expecting it to be this good. I ate at the bar in the back. Could use a little sprucing up inside and out. It looks kind of dull and the street sign doesn’t say that it’s Italian so I didn’t even know what to expect. I see the sign over the door says Italian. Needs marketing and style. The food was 5 star. Service was great. Exceptional chef quality cuisine and specials. I will be coming back. Also, I got caught off guard that it closes at 8pm on Saturday night. Kinda early.

My wife ordered from DoorDash for pickup last Friday (02/20), unaware that the restaurant was recently closed for renovations. DoorDash refuses to refund her, as they said they restaurant accepted the order and confirmed everything on their end. We’ve tried calling and emailing multiple times to rectify this issue, and there’s been no response from Diomede’s. Diomede’s needs to TURN OFF online ordering ASAP, as everything was processed for our order according to DoorDash, so they will not refund us. They also didn’t even believe my wife when she informed them the restaurant is closed, and that I had driven there trying to pickup the food that DoorDash said was ‘ready for pickup,’ according to the restaurant.

Will be happy to delete this review if this gets rectified and resolved, but as of right now we’re out $60 and nobody seems to want to fix this issue.

Excellent food, great service, warm and friendly atmosphere. We had reservations for a party of five and we were treated like royalty. Our table was ready with Ice waters, fresh flowers and fresh bruschetta. Chef Paul (the owner) came out to great us and thanked us for coming. He asked about food allergies and if we had any special requests. Super nice guy. Our meals arrived in a timely manner and everything we ordered was fantastic! Huge portions, made with fresh ingredients all cooked to perfection. Diomede’s is a must try…trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

The place was purchased by new owners July 2023, don’t judge a book by its cover. It’s beautiful inside and the minute you walk in you get a warm welcoming feeling almost like you just came home. It’s very busy on the weekends so reservations are a must. The print out menus and put my last name on the back which was a nice little surprise. Nicky our waitress was a sweetheart and always on top of everything. From the on the house delicious bruschetta, bread with oil, tasty appetizers ( especially the meatballs) the gigantic main courses, and remarkable desserts everything was perfect. The owners Kim and Paul made themselves present, Kim greeted us like good friends when we walked in and Paul came out of the kitchen and was extremely charming. We feel like we made new friends. The prices were fair as well. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant and definitely will return. By the way there were five in our party, I have a hearty appetite and we all had leftovers. Maybe even for two days. One more thing Paul the owner is an actor, writer, director as well. Known for Brooklyns Finest and The Sopranos.

Unbelievable restaurant !!! Quiet, cozy, great food, huge portions, and wonderful service!!!❤️. Get the honey gargonzola fries and talk with the owners Paul and Kim over a shot of Zambuka while you wait for your meal. Thanks for a great anniversary dinnerl !!! ❤️ ️ If you live in the area and haven’t been here yet, you are missing out! If you’re further away, it is definitely worth the drive. Excellent quality, quantity, and presentation. Eccellente!!!

The food here is very good! The service is outstanding and you can really feel the love. The building needs updating and some final touches. Yet you’ll eat at real tables with real flowers, a battery operated candle, real tablecloths, actual cloth napkins, and real cutlery. The walls are covered with framed photography that brings you back to a better time. Enjoy yourselves and a good meal at Diomedes!

A really outstanding experience with our group of 9 at Diomede’s. We were in town for the NASCAR weekend and took a shot in the dark making a reservation for Saturday night. The staff treated us like family the entire time, including multiple table visits and interactions from the chef. Everyone’s food was incredibly good, came out quickly, with very generous portions. We talked about all night and the next day how Diomedes really saved our day. We will definitely be back!

100% worth a stop for high quality Italian without all the city hustle.

I love that this location is thriving. I remember the Fox Glove as a child (always got extra cherries in my Shirley). Diomedes did not disappoint on any level – the food was delicious, service was superb, and atmosphere was to be expected for an upper level quality restaurant.

Sam our bartender was fabulous. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great suggestions.

I was super excited they hand stuffed Gorgonzola olives for a dirty tini. Drink specials were thoughtful and all delicious sounding.

The star of the show was the food though. We only had a couple appetizers on our first visit and they were superb- tuna credo and eggplant Parmesan. Yum!

Not to be mean however the pizza is below standard in the area, first time in kind of dark inside, staff seemed nice. Pizza sauce had an abundance of what I’m guessing to be oregano in it as it was over barring. As previous reviews have stated the crust needs improvement; crust outer edges where rock hard and the bottom had uncooked flour on it. Overall it was salty as if they used spaghetti sauce over pizza sauce, the cheese blend was off as well meaning the flavors don’t quite jive together pepperoni was rather bland total bummer considering this cost 41.50$. I would suggest the owners to evaluate the local market and try again maybe do a pizza cook off get us locals to help you succeed right?! Just a thought.
