I don’t think you could create a better lunch and take away place than this. Their soups are delicious and I’ve also had their gluten-free mac & cheese, cheese and posole. Everything is so good and there’s so many different things to look at in the store and somehow I want to buy it all. There’s a counter to sit at and also a large table with many seats. I really really love this place and regret that I didn’t know about it sooner.

High quality, eclectic dishes served in various sizes so you can enjoy tapas style if you wish. Getting a bunch of items and sharing is recommended in my experience. Excellent coffee. Complimenting everything are a bunch of nicely curated goods on the shelf.

I ordered catering from Black Eyed Suzie’s and could not have been more pleased from beginning ‘til end. Cheryl was consistently responsive to my many inquiries providing helpful answers along the way. I ordered catering for a group of 13- the food was well packaged with clear reheating instructions, all at an affordable price point. Oh, and the food was delicious!!! Highly recommend.

Absolutely delightful place for anyone looking for a quick bite, but especially those with any kind of dietary restriction. I have Celiac disease and a soy allergy, and this spot had myriad tasty treats to choose from. I have to try the GF fried chicken next time, but the pistachio cookies and orange almond cake are straight up sent from heaven. I cannot wait to return. Also, the Friday staff is super sweet, thanks a ton to both of them for helping me with my order!

Went into during a weekday lunchtime and ordered a three veggie plate. All was pre-prepped and cold but really nice flavors and fresh veggies. Sat at the communal table and exchanged soup recipes with a stranger.

Wow! I have to say I’m shocked. I do love their gluten free chicken and their soups, but I had a horrible experience today. The sweet potatoes I ordered for my daughter were EXTREMELY hot with red pepper flakes. My potato leek soup was delicious, and the GF fried chicken was on point. However, the sesame kale salad tasted very old and soggy. I understand rubbed kale and love marinated kale salads like from Stone Soup and Mother Earth, however this was inedible today. If itnwas just one thing I would not have called, but thought I would ask for a replacement with something we can eat because we are still hungry. Cheryl came to the phone and i shard that that these two items are inedible and Cheryl replied that it was a personal preference and nothing is wrong with her food and refused to switch for something we could eat. I thought this place was a great addition to Kingston, and I was a regular for the GF chicken, however I won’t be back. What Cheryl didn’t know is that I critique restaurants and am in the field. I can not support a business with no customer service. I am shocked, and sad, that they would lose a customer over a mistake with over-spiced sweet potatoes and a very soggy salad. Being in the sustainbility, restaurant, and customer service field, this is very surprising that Cheryl would lose customers with something easily fixable like this. She should have said is, “I’m sorry you, please chose something else, and I am hopeful you will be back or even since we are mainly take out let me refund your card or add a credit for next time you come in.

I was driving home after a long day and happened to see a sign serving burrata with pesto ( my absolute fav). I was welcomed immediately upon walking in and given a menu. Everything was beyond my expectations. The burrata melted instantly in my mouth with the perfect amount of seasoning. I also ordered the cod cakes and have never tasted anything like it. They had the perfect balance of spicy and lemon flavors. I finally found my go to spot for the area.

Black Eye for Black Eyed Suzie’s for including dangerous bone shards hidden in their fried chicken salad bowl! Harmful in mouth and potentially life-threatening if unknowingly swallowed. Their food products’ safety is questionable at best.

The prepared food at Black-Eyed Suzie’s is usually excellent. We have tried the fried chicken (twice), chicken Milanese, chicken skewers, and some sides, as well as sandwiches (BLT very good; banh mi, disappointing and very inauthentic). The prices are high, like high-end NYC high. A take-out meal for two can easily run $70. The store is very pretty, and it has possibly the nicest bathroom in the Hudson Valley (nearby EV charging station customers, take note, for snacks and bathroom breaks). What I don’t get is why there is no friendly welcome. The counterstaff do not greet you or look pleased to see customers, and don’t even think about service with a smile. In most workplaces this is a trickle-down effect, from a manager or owner: so why are they unhappy, or badly trained? This is not OK, and will prevent me from coming back.

More deli style prepared food than site down restaurant. But don’t let that dissuade you. You’ll be stunned by the varied array of options. I had a sandwich, roasted brussel sprouts, a cod cake, skewers, and a hand pie and it was all so delicious. 10/10, prices are reasonable as long as you have self control.
